Yes. I live very close to one.

Why not near you? It takes a large local fanbase to support a store like that. In the case of Ann Arbor, Animania does nicely.
i haven't found animania yet in ann arbor. been to wizzywigs. can you give me the street name would like to check it out the next time i in ann arbor.
I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

Yes, there is. I know one here in Toronto and they sell all sorts of stuff, including anime toys and manga in Japanese Image. It's like a little convention tucked into a tiny store. About the only things they don't sell are sailor fuku and loose socks.

You should definately sell different genres of anime since not everyone is interested in the same type of anime.

And manga for those who like to buy anime and manga without having to go to a different store to get it. (that's more money for you) And also when you open, have some feedback cards except instead of asking how the customer service is, ask about what type have anime you should have.

And I've always dreamed about going into a store and them showing anime on one of those TVs they have. You think you could do that?

Oh, and of course you should always give your customers the option of special ordering, that is if you don't specifically have the anime or manga there are looking for.

types of shows he should carry. Also, what his store should carry in
the future... So please respond to this small questionaire.

1) What shows have you bought recently?
(today and yesterday)
Azumanga Daoih box with volume 1
Fruits Basket volume 4
Record of Lodoss Wars:Chronicles of the Heroic Knight Box
Rahxephon 6-7

2) What shows do you wish you could buy ,but, are
usally Out-Of-Stock?
Fushigi Yugi
Cardcaptor Sakura
Sailor Moon S/SuperS
Slayers OVAs
Ranma

3)If you could recommend a new show for begining otaku,
what would it be?
Depends on the genre and their personal tastes. Basically carry a wide variety of genres.

4)What shows do you think will be populare in the future?
Uhh one's that are being released or existing? In most cases I personally don't really rely on popularity when purchasing things. I go by word of mouth most of the time. Though if he's serious about this, there's a new thing where stores (my favourite anime store included) are selling series promo disks, I don't know if it's only for one company or not, but each dvd has about two episodes of the series on it, sells really cheap and then offers a coupon for the box set inside.

5)What don't you like about your current video store?
Well I don't check out video stores. The anime store I go to, is a sort of collectibles type place. Basically, if you're going to cater to an 'otaku' type of audience, you shouldn't only carry dvds/vhs, but manga, anime related magazines, action figures, collectibles, card etc as well.

Hope that helps ^^

Merchandise, merchandise, MERCHANDISE!!!!

All the anime-related merchandise you can get your hands on. It's a pain having to order it off eBay.

The anime store near my school is pretty good. It's got a good variety of stuff, though it kind of sucks that they don't have many t-shirts (at least none that fit me - they're all large or X-large, which sucks. SMALL PEOPLE DO WATCH ANIME!)

However, it's very disorganized there, which REALLY sucks...it's important to keep everything nice and orderly.

They don't carry Berserk manga and they don't sell custom pairs of duplicate Vash trigun classes.
