Van Helsing had horrid acting, at least on Dracula's part, that guy should of been sodomized for his performance, it was like watching one of the old stage drama's where everyone talks loud to emphasize the emotion, which gets really campy. They should of just snatched up Gary Oldman and re-casted him as the big D again. Also comparing it to anime is pointless when...well..there is no real anime influence to begin with.

IMO, Underworld was much better altogether. As for the werewolf concepts, each movie had it's ups and downs. As for the Frankenstien monster, De Niro still pwns out of all the versions.

Now after saying this I do say that I did somehow enjoy Van Helsing as a good adventure film, but you won't see sparks flying from it. I'm hoping Troy and Chronicles of Riddick do that for me.
Who has their head in their ass? And as far as comparing it to anime goes, it's utter ludicrous to suggest that you can't compare two things because there's no influence between them.

As for the movie... I'm interested in how they portrayed Dracula and Van Helsing. Is this Van Helsin supposed to be the same old Proffessor Abraham Van Helsing from Dracula, or a different guy?

Well, LXG didn't get high praise, but it was still an ok movie, so I guess it's not a gut wrenchingly horrible movie, and c'mon , there's no way it could be worse than Gigli

Speaking of Chronicles of Riddick, who here remembers Pitch Black?
(Also, the Xbox game for CoR is suppose to kick multitudes of ass, and be the first movie tie in game to get an M rating)

I remember Pitch Black and also don't listen to Critics most of the times (coming from my exp with movies and such.) They're mostly wrong.

Okay, I'll apologize for my harshness, I was just getting tired of the "OMG, VAN HELSING/HELLSING/VHD/ANY GENERIC VAMPIRE ANIME?" Threads i've been seeing elsewhere, and went on a rant-page.

As for Pitch Black, yes, I love that movie. I usually don't listen to critics much, most of the movies they trash (Red Planet, The Hunted, Masters of the Universe [if you don't remember this then you should be ashamed]) I tend to like somehow. I do seemed to be finding myself in agreement with Robert Ebert often o.O...I guess he does have as bad taste in movies as I do, hehe.

I do however pay attention to reviews by regular joes. There was a screener review on Chronicles of Riddick. Not quite praising it, but not quite denouncing it either. The review mentioned that the movie was good, but lacking further details into several things in the movie. Anywho it'll probably go as well as Pitch Black did as far as summer action movies go :\, but being that there was a screener, there is things that are subject to change.

I'm just hoping Riddick doesn't loose too much from his good guy/bad guy appeal, where he'll help people out only to slice one of them open later on to help himself.

I remember Masters of the Universe! I was hoping that there'd might be a sequel too, since Skeletor didn't die. Man, that was cheese at its finest, and the Punisher as well , starring the same cheese actor, Dolph Lundgren.

Yeah, I was hoping for a sequal as well especially with the whole "I'LL BE BACK" line at the very very end.

VAN HELSING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH HELLSING NOT EVEN SPELLED THE SAME, i had a kid tell me i was stupid because he said that Van Helsing left everything out from the anime, well that kid is a dumbass but oh well, bottom line is Van Helsing is totally different from Hellsing but Vampire Hunter D and Van Helsing have SOME similarities, but I wouldn't directly compare the two. There im done
Thank you
Those stupid "I am (insert characters name)" things never work. I try and fail....horribly

i think that IS a vampire, cause after van helsing kills her (the winged beast thingy) the little town starts bowing down to him and saying he's the first to kill a vampire in over a hundred years or sumtin like that, so their portrayal of vampires will probably appeal to people that like horror/action but not as much to fans of the noble vampire... but i haven't seen Van Helsing, so i could be horribly wrong, i'm just voicing my opinion and spreading any knowledge i have

you never know, in Van Helsing, they might have different levels of vampire, like in the first VHD movie they had halflings and people of tainted blood
Arandia wrote:I felt so bad for D when he didn't get the girl who he sorta fell in love with...twice!(two girls i mean) oh well...ya'll prolly don't care...
..he fell in love with only the first movie's girl, in the second movie, he didn't feel anything but pity for Meyer Link and his girl, and i think he more or less just had respect and probably pity too for that girl with the kule bike... D's almost emotionless, that's why he's a cool killer

I'll see Van Helsing, just to scoff at it SCOF I SAY!
but mebbe i'll like it
