Uh anyway, my vote goes solidly to Neon Genesis Evangelion. Cowboy Bebop may be in the same league, easily one of my favorites and philosophical too, but Evangelion gets my vote for it's all around awesomeity.

As for 3rd place.... it goes to His & Her Circumstances.
