Why everyone hates dubbers? :?

I don't hate dubbers... I hate bad dubs.

I love the dubbing on Macross Plus, Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, and Hellsing.

I personally have nothing against dubs... as long as they're done well. In the case of DBZ i would MUCH prefer subs to the dubs which are currently aired everywhere.

I prefer subtitles, as the Japanese voices seem to match the characters better, and they also seem to do a better job. (Not the fault of the American voice actors.)

Although, I prefer the dub of Boogiepop Phantom over the subs. My primary reason would be episode 10, the part where Boogiepop confronts Poom Poom. In the Japanese version, Poom Poom's voice is monotone, and while the dub has the same tone, it's far more emotional. It rocks heavily. (Although other parts of the series, I prefer the subs.)

Plus, dubs are the gateway drug to anime addiction. Most people forget this fact.

Basically if there's a dub version of an anime available, then I give it a chance and watch it. If the dubbing absolutely sucks (like Ayashi no Ceres), then I stick to subs throughout.

Cowboy bebop is overrated.

I prefer to watch the animation rather than having to read the lines.

This is the biggest reason I don't mind the existence of dubs.

I've heard some people call others "too lazy" to read subtitles, but to some people, the subs are a distraction from the scene.

I personally don't have that problem (being able to read at obcene rates of speed without looking away from the scene), but I can sympathize with people who do, since I find other sounds a horrible distraction. I've found that I can't follow what's going on (dubbed or subbed) if there's too much noise around me when I'm watching.

I'm very happy that dvd allows us to have the origional with sub and a english dub on the same disc.

As am I. I usually sample the dub of key scenes on the first disk of a series once I finish watching the series subbed. They're usually a good indicator of how good the rest of the dub is.

honestly, it usualy doesnt make that much bloody difference. and its not like the original jap audio is allways so great anyway. for example, the evangelion english dub is alot beter than the original japanese audio. if an anime (or any show for that mater) has a good story (or action, or whatever the focus is) and most other factors are doen good, then it doesnt make any difference how good/bad the voices sound (within certian boundaries. but its too rare an instance that an anime falls out of thoughs boundaries

Subtitling is good

Subtitling is done by professionals, as is dubbing, but the subtitlers are free to translate the japanese exactly, without adding words or changing meanings to fit the animation. this allows for greater understanding of the anime. also, in a subtitled version, the audience is able to hear the emotion conveyed through the original voice. this can often be helpful in deciphering implied meanings in statemnets.

Dubbing is bad

Anime is drawn so that the movements of characters' mouths correspond to the japanese words the characters are speaking. when an anime is dubbed, the mouths still move at the same rate, but the english translation often doesn't match those movements, so the companies doing the dubbing must rewrite the script so that the mouth movements correspond. this can include actually altering the implications of words spoken.

Well, I prefer subs because I can read faster and comprehend what I'm reading better than most people and to me subs sound better. Unless I like the way some of the voices sound in the dub better. I also like the way japanese sounds. Oh and I agree that Cowboy Bebop is overrated.
