your local library might not have much, but see if there's a website or something, where you can search a lot of branches of the library. And about the download sites, most, BUT NOT ALL, are illegal. Occasionally (to explain the legal) a company which holds the U.S. broadcasting or distributing license will put up low-quality subbed or dubbed versions of episodes of anime for a free download from their website. I know Cartoon Network did this once (well it was a stream on their website, not a download) for Lodoss TV, Patlabor, and a few other shows, and A.N. Entertainment (a.k.a. Animenation) put up the first episode of Risky Safety for download. This is legal because they have the U.S. license.

thanks all, I watch Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network all the time. I have bought some anime from Ebay and others from Best Buy. Best Buy is so expensive though. I'm not sure if there are any anime clubs here in town, i'll have to check that out.

At the moment Netflix owns me. They don't have the best collection on earth, but I'm catching up on several major titles that I hadn't seen yet. And it's very [insert several more "very"s] convenient. My-nearly-computer-illiterate-mom-can-do-this convenient.

It's not free, from about $15 a month, I think, but if you and/or your household are movie fiends and can go through several movies a month, it may be worth it.

Best Buy is one the cheapest places around to find legal copies. If you want to see expensive go to Suncoast or a Sam Goody.

I found some Targets to carry an anime section among their dvd area. Not all though. The one by me I have found has a pretty good selection and most of it is cheaper than what I have found at the Best Buys. I got the Cowboy Bebop movie from there and it was cheaper than I found from anywhere else; even on the internet! Maybe this Target is special?¿ =\

Try... it doesn't hurt! ^_^

paizuri is on the ball wth the anime club idea. I don't think I've ever _had_ to download anime. The old ways are still the best.

x2 netflix rules for renting stuff. No time limits, no rental limits, and they deliver, so you get something other than bills and junk mail in your post for a change. Netflix=cheaper than blockbuster/hollywood video
