First off, Naruto has plot, interesting characters that grow with the story, involved fight scenes that arent just recycled crap from the last fight scene. DBZ is lacking all of these things. All the characters fight the same exact way in dbz. some sort of glowing ball in various sizes and colors.
this rant is kind of ackward and fragmented but thats all ive got right now.

ill be honest enough. naruto is VERY DBZish. but i still like it. know why?

because unlike dbz, this has CHARACTERIZATION. these characters have reasons to be, reasons to do what they do, and since i read the manga, i know its only gonna get better. the fights arent as drawn out, there isnt the same absurd excalation of character's strength. Fights are more interesting, because as ninja, the fights are NEVER straightforward. the show always pulls one on you. this is neat, but slight disadvantage as it takes some time after to explain what on earth we just saw. also, it almost never does the "Cloud of smoke dissipates" gag for showing how tough people are in this world. less mindless beating, more intellectual.

as i always do, i make another recommendation. another show, sort of a brother show to naruto, in their similarity, and as the other side of the shonen anime popular series right now, is One Piece. fights are shorter, gags are funnier, more character backstory, and it moves a bit faster storywise. however, its weirder.

I absolutely love this show with a passion. I had been going through a dry spell of watching ok anime, but nothing really great for a while then I saw Naruto and Ai Yori Aoshi as well and it was almost like a little Renaissance of anime for me. Naruto is such a cool show. It is the best action show I've seen right next to Kenshin. The fights in it are not like fights in other anime and are done is such a cleaver way. The characters are extremely interesting and have their own stories that you want to find answers to. The main character of Naruto is someone that you want to and get to watch age, mature, and become stronger and unlike DBZ it's actually enjoyable when naruto trains and it also doesn't last for 25 episodes. The whole world that the creature of the story has developed is awesome, with the different clans, techniques, powers, skill levels, it's all very interesting and in depth which adds even more interest to the show. Like I mentioned before the main story of Naruto is great, but the other side stories of the supporting characters and also very interesting and you want to know about them. I hope that this show does go on for a lot longer! Overall I would say anyone that enjoys action in the least bit will love this show. With the comedy and great characters it's overall a great show.

Well in response to the flaming fanboy comments since this is a post called, "sell me on naruto" I would think that it probably makes sense that you're going to have a lot of strong Naruto fans posting in this person's thread trying to sell him/her(sorry) on it
So seeing as the person wants to hear some good things about it, it probably shouldn't come as a shock to read "fanboy-ish" comments with strong opinons.

Yeah..i like Naruto, i enjoy watching it and i believe the characters develop, the plot is decent and there is enough twist and turns to keep fans hooked. Overall..it doesn't provide anything outstandingly new to anime but its a solid show, that blends action, humor and a little drama together well enough for people to enjoy...if u let it.

As for fanboys..yeah its an entertaining enough show to watch...(not the waiting for the next episode however), but if people just dont tend to like it, dont be so cut about it...as long as they are not totally trashing it..let it be.

One friend says while definately an improvement to dbz and pokemon..he hates the commercialism of it and the dragging on of the episodes, refusing to watch it anymore. On the other hand, my other friend can't stop buying posters and little models of it..i mean why do u have a whole wall dedicated to Naruto..but a friend is a friend...life goes on...u accept it.

It has fight scenes, or episodes rather. Gold.

I'm not sure that I can sell you on Naruto at all. Perhaps you'd be interested in taking a Samurai Champloo out for a spin however!

Naruto Is NOTHING like DBZ, DBZ sucks Ass compared to naruto. naruto is about a kid named naruto that has a Extremely powerful Demon Fox sealed inside him, everyone in the village hates him, so he wants to prove himself and gain recognition as the most powerful ninja in his village.

See?, Nothing like DBZ.
