No, that's not really what the OP was getting at, and unless you're John of AnimeNation's "Ask John", you've ripped him off word-for-word without giving proper credit.

No that really wasn't my question. I was just talking about the target audience. If something is aimed at males or females it is not necessarly sexist. Sexist (at least to me) is when a women in a series is an idiot with big tits and no feelings. They are only there for sex, and for it to be sexist towards a man then most (if not all) men in the series are nothing more than dumbass the women can easily control and kick the crap out of.

I was just wondering if the mojority of anime is more so for men or women. I don't really find a cute anime sexist yet it is more directed towards women or an action anime sexist yet it is more directed towards me. I just want to know what you think it is more directed at, and yes it will change with each anime, but I mean over all. That's all.

I know I know XP I was planning to say that I didn't write it the moment someone insinuated that they got the idea that I wrote it. I just love the stuff John writes so much and this looked like a golden oppurtunity...

Male, 14

I don't think anime as a whole as a target audience. It's a medium used to tell a story and there for your question is just like asking what is the targeted audience of movies. It varies, as does every form of story telling.

Male, 20.

Obviously. Anime is not a genre. There's genres in anime, and there's anime for people of most kinds of tastes. Naturally, age and gender are not a factor in anime in general; only specific titles and genres in anime have target audiences, but not anime as a whole.

First two questions,
Gender: Female
Age: 16 (17 in August)

For the third question, I think it matters what anime your watching. Anime that is directed toward guys are like, DBZ, Trigun, Akira, Gundam, etc. Anime that is directed more toward girls is like, Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, Ah! My Goddess. Anime appeals both to men and women.

Female, 17 this coming October.

Like other people are saying, asking who anime is mostly directed towards is like asking who live action is mostly directed towards. It can't be answered, not really. Sure there are many kid's shows, but there are also shows which get into deeper stuff most little kids wouldn't understand completely, as well as shows with content which most parents would object to their children seeing..

Also, some shows have a very broad appeal. I've shown some anime to a group of relatives who all liked it, male and female, about ten years old to middle-aged. I've recommended stuff I like to one of my teachers and he liked it.

male, 18

Anime is gender neutral. It has stories directed at everyone. Both sesxes or one it matters not. I haven't even begun to explore most anome both so far, from what I have seen, it is directed at everyone.

Gender: Female
Age: 16 (17 in August)

and the following info I'm just adding for DarkHeartRyujin since he doesn't visit the forums often. I'm giving out his personal information (I smell a lawsuit).

Gender: Male
Age: 16

I think anime just appeals more to guys than it does to women (fan service for one thing). But other than that I'm not to sure (I know all guys aren't pervs)
