anime is the greatest creation of mankind
You, sir, are a fucking moron. Without the invention of televisions, computers, cameras, the ability to draw itself, you'd still be hanging out in front of your family shower, hoping to catch a glimpse of your sister, instead of beating off to ink and paint on the TV.

There's a big wide world out there, filled with wonderful, beautiful things that far surpass cartoons. all you gotta do is go find them.

The greatest thing about mankind is the ability to create. anime is a fucking sideshow.

Eoe, everything you say is exactly the sort of thing I would have said when I was like ten or eleven. I just have to ask, how old are you?

Woah, woah, woah, just one second here people. When did this turn into "I hate your guts because you said something I don't agree with" thread?

For one, the topic question is asking for an opinion. Why you care about anyone else's opinion but your own is beyond me. If you have to justify your own opinion by TOTALLY burning this person into the ground then I suggest you ban yourself for being a jerk. Great way to show how much your opinion is worth, btw.

Two, when did what you read become the ONLY interpretation of the authors words? Ever think that is was a figure of speach? Not just something taken literally word for word? Maybe you should have (politely) asked for better explanation of what it meant. If indeed it was what you first thought, then by all means, state your opposition. But that attitude is a waste of your own efforts.

Just because you can blabber off obvious facts to berate someone will forever put me in a bad mood  .

Apologies to Iced for throwing the topic out the window with this post.

^__^ Anime - 'tis a wonderful thing.

But as far as "live-action" anime goes, I don't really have much of an opinion. I've never really seen any particular series, but I have seen a few clips from a live-action Sailor Moon - it reminded me of Power Rangers ^^;

Someone is being overly serious, I suppose.
On that tone, with the advent of digital production, you can't say for sure it's ink and paint. Being a purist may sound good, but I admit that I use digital editing tools for my manga/webcomic colourizing fun. What did I ever do without the Lasso tool's edge detection, the Magic Wand's tolerance controls and the abiity to pain screentones right in?!

I'd say that the medium offered by anime is one of the great inventions. But I wouldn't put that before the Gutenberg press - else we'd all be reading woodblock impression manga with hand-carved stochastic halftones (or worse, line shading).

Just look for a Japanese video store on the internet that ships international and obtain the InuYasha live action play by SHINKANSEN*PARCOMICS. Then tell me what you think... after you stop laughing at poor Shippo.

i think the 1st live action anime film ive seen was fist of the north star..... i just couldnt stop laughin cos it was soo poor...also does every1 remember the street fighter movie? the best thing i think about live action anime is that i want all the actors i hate to star in them & then end their career for the next 10 years...cos it just doesnt work when transforming manga/anime...& let us not forget the guyver movies...cos they were.....errr...great....(-_-)

Haven't seen a live action series yet unless you can count an AMV, and it was scary.
Hollywood should stay the heck away from anime.
Wouldn't want loved anime staples ruined like I'm sure they would.
People aren't meant to be in anime, it's just wrong.
Imagine what would happen...
Goku's hair would turn gold because he when to a salon and colored it.
Cardcaptor Sakura would fly on a magic carpet instead of using her "wand-staff".
Inu Yasha would be the byproduct of a secret government study.

Because in Hollywood things don't get portrayed, they are re-made.
Stories are changed.
The statement authors were trying to make utterly distorted.
The horror!

:P Hollywood :P

It's true Hollywood tends to re-make everything that they do. It's a sad thing that sucks the soul out of the original creators vision. To date there has never been a good live action anime that I have seen created by them. I hope they don't ruin Eva as they did the rest or a lot of people are going to get a lot of bombs in the mail from Eva fans:twisted:.
