Ive been rather disapointed with the third tenchi OAV. Watched the first 3 epsiodes on fansub. That's my opinion though, so if you wnat to see it go ahead.

First three episodes were major.. and I mean MAJOR.. fan service for fans who had read the novels, background story, etc... that Kajishima had written. It really helped put a lot of things in perspective, as well as introducing new important characters for those of you who had not read the novels or at least descriptions of them.

Episode 4 is where it starts getting really juicy, so I reccomend checking out episode 4 at least... I don't think you'll be able to find a fansub of it, but check it out when it comes out here at least.

Novels? Do you mean the manga VIZ is currently realeasing? Either way, I absoulutly love the manga!

Well, here's hoping that Funimation succeeds in getting all the original dubbed VA's! I'm so use to hearing the Tenchi gang sound a certain way that I would hate to have it all changed for the 3 OAV.

.... Wait, so there is a fansub out there?

Is that true? 'Cause I've seen screenshots that have subtitles on 'em. I just really want to see it. From the screenshots alone I can tell it rules. :D
Funimation has licensed the 3rd OAV (which Im not thrilled about since they don't have the original voice actors).
Though I did hear that they were trying really hard to get all the origional VAs.

i really hope they do...

Are the Manga and the OAV related, or is it just another retelling?

No, I mean the novels that Kajishima wrote as a prequel to the Tenchi OVAs. There's three of them. "Jurai", "Yosho", and "Washu" were the titles, and they go into insane depth on the beginning of everything.. literally, everything. The start of the Juraian empire, the story of Yosho's father, How Jurai was invaded, etc... There's even a LOT on Washu's past that you can't read anywhere else.

As for a fansub, the first three episodes were fansubbed, but are no longer available since the show got licensed.

No, the only connection between the OVAs and the Manga are that the Manga takes place after the first 6 OVA episodes... after that, it branches off into it's own new continuity, seperate from the remaining OVA episodes. Likewise, the remaining OVA episodes and the events descibed in them never happen in the Manga.

But hey, at least it's more closely connected to the OVAs than Tenchi Universe or Tenchi in Tokyo. The only Tenchi series that's more closely connected to the OVAs is Tenchi Muyo GXP, which happens after OVA 3.

No, however you can find translations of them online. Let me dig up a link here...

http://homepage2.nifty.com/tatsumingo/w ... rld_e.html

There's the english version of the original novel description/translation page.

There's others, but none of them have as much info.

It's a little engrishy but you can understand it still.
