Have you ever seen real street racing? Like literally standing on the side-walk, ready at any moment to run if there is any sign of cops. Its not as fast as it looks in film, it is highly exagerated. Anyway I guess you guys haven't been to any street rally races. Now that is fucking dangerous, especially when they uses nas.

If you think they are doing some insane speeds in Initial D then you need to take a look at the speedometers again. That isn't 100 mph, it's 100 kph...which is 60 mph. That's usually the FASTEST they go, sometimes a bit faster. Doesn't sound that fast to you 'street racing' enthusiasts? Remember, these are roads that probably have signs on them saying "20 KPH" for the turns, and they're swinging through them at 80-90 kph....
I remember driving with a friend from Austin to Dripping Springs, which is up in the Hill Country in Texas. There was this long downhill straightaway that he had been slowly gaining speed on. As we approached the bottom, we saw the sign "CURVE AHEAD 20 MPH" And he asked me..."Think I can take it at 60?" Well, I got my first taste of a drift turn that day. And I'm not interested in trying it again (luckily the car did stay mostly on the road).

In videos? yes.
Impressive? Only slightly.
Destructive vehicular chase > street racing
On a slightly related note, check out some Arabs in their tuned machines(mostly Supras and Skylines)
And keeping on topic, it certianly will be interesting on how they will adapt Initial D from anime to live-action.

as said before; the cars arent going that fast;; when i feint drift im only generally going 50-70 mph;; it isnt a drag race, where races are just a straight line and engine and shifting is what wins the race

INITIAL D
The main stunt that is amazing about Initial D is the speed of their turns. That is the point of the downhill race - to keep up a high speed on a narrow, hairpin-ridden road. Thats where the drift technique come in handy. That is why I love Initial D, to watch the downhill technique of the characters and their cars.
And if you want to see speed, especially in a curve, check out the episodes of Initial D where you get to see Takumi's dad, Bunta, take to the streets. Mind blowing (although not completely feasible) drift technique!!
P.S. - If you guys are into Initial D, post some pis of your favorite cars from Initial D in the Trueno and RX-7 FC Screencap thread. [Not limited to the Trueno or RX-7 FC]

u know the physics of initial d *arent* exactly correct;; true weight shifting and other driving techniques are explained;; but the drifting styles completed in initial s are not completely capable for even pro drivers every time;; u want to see real drifting by the drift king himself watch drift bible
