TRUTH! :o

***

No, seriously, Kodocha is absolutely excellent. It's certainly not a good one for people with short attention spans; the mood there can change in split seconds from all sappy and dramatic to random funny and back again.
Honestly about the funniest series I've seen. I'd like to get it on DVD, though I'd imagine it'll cost me.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Considering FUNimation is picking it up, probably not too good. It always seems if FUNimation screws up any good anime it gets its hands on.
Now it's even getting its hands on the Naruto series..........those bastards........always wanting to ruin a good thing.

I can't imagine the dubbed Kodomo no Omocha would be as fun and crazy as the original. :|

First of all, I'm not a man.

Second of all, I have seen some of Kodomo no Omocha in its original language. And in no way does my post above imply that I have never seen Kodocha in Japanese.

Third of all, I have found the Kodocha anime to be much less enjoyable than the manga, so chances are slim that I will be buying the DVDs anyway. I was merely expressing the fact that the trailer sounded hilarious to me, and that I was curious about how they plan to maintain that whole level of energy throughout the dub.

Fourth of all, FUNi did a pretty good job with Fruits Basket, so there's hope yet (for you guys).

Please don't jump to so many conclusions next time.

Yeah... Blue Gender, Gunslinger Girl, Bakuretsu Tenshi, Fullmetal Alchemist, etc. have all received such terrible releases by FUNimation in the US...

People, I'm a DBZ fan from the mid-90s, and *I've* gotten over it. Take the hint.

Back to the topic at hand... I agree with regards to the Kodocha manga; it's one of the best I've ever read, hands-down. I've only seen around 30 episodes of the anime, but it's still fantastic and highly recommended.

The trailer kinda makes me wonder if that is what Sana sounds like to native Japanese speakers. It's always weird to hear a dub of something you've only known for years with the original Japanese dialogue.

Hmm, I'm also curious to know if Funimation has rights to the OAVs. I know Sana is voiced by Chisa Yokoyama instead of Shizue Oda, who does th TV series. I've never seen the OAVs.

Yeah, Kodomo's got great plot. I often joke the characters could easily land themselves on Oprah or Doctor Phil, though their problems are not Jerry Springer dumb.

I wondered the same thing when I heard just how over-the-top Jessica Calvello (and then Larissa Wolcott) sounded as Excel.
Personally, I thought Kotono Mitsuishi managed to pull off hyperactive well without being overly annoying, but maybe it sounded different to the Japanese.

But anyway, if the anime's anything like the manga, then yes, it's got a great, funny, touching story that'll make me want to keep watching. :D

Wow, that was a lot better than I'd hoped for- here's hoping for an overall quality release.

I second Jasper-Isis on Fruits Basket: it's almost as if Funi said to themselves, "Okay, we'd better pull out all the stops and do a good job on this one, because if we mess it up, God may forgive us, but the fans never will." From the artbox to the episodes per disc count to the extras to the dub to the multiple angles & subtitle tracks, the release is high quality all the way around. Although, I did send them a Grammar Nazi message because they wrongly wrote "their's" instead of "theirs" in the sub script in episode 15.

Well, I think the american definition of motormouthed hyperactivity also erroneously includes a level of...boisterousness that shouldn't really be there. Plus Kotono Mitsuishi is a really versatile VA. I mean she went from the gun crazy Koume in Blue Seed to Sailor Moon of all people to Misato in Eva to Excel (with numerous parts in-between). That's some resume.

I liked what I've seen of the Kodocha anime, but at times there are random filler episodes that just don't seem to hit the right notes. Also, I've never seen past when they go into junior high, so I can't comment on those episodes.
