The anime is the original story. The manga is an adaptation of the anime, the same way that the RahXephon manga, that has a different storyline, is an adaptation of the RahXephon anime.

Yeh alot are like that.
Being I hate the pokemon series but I actually like the manga.Manga has the same character but a diffrent story.

Anyway the RahXephon series like most of these are editted from the original script of it is why there both diffrent.

To tell you the truth, I actually prefered the manga over the anime (even if the anime came first). The tough guy talk got a little old at times but I liked the overall story.
s-CRY-ed (the anime) could have been better. There were too many annoying minor characters that didn't seem to make a major impact on the overall plot. There were also a lot of annoying major characters.

I havent read the manga. The first time I saw s-CRY-ed was on Adultswim last Saturday.

I liked it. The idea was nice and the characters likable. Only thing that I totally LOATHED was the 26th episodes. Seriousely it was unnecessary and messed up the entire mood of the ending.

what! 26 gave some closure.......I cant really say more without spoiling shit, but I really liked 26 as it showed me what I wanted to see since the very first episode

Oh and btw scryed is really good, it is up there on my top 3 anime and I made two videos to it.

I have one of the manga books for sCRYed and I have to see more if I want to say it's good or not. from what i've seen so far i have to say it's a verry intresting anime.
