You know you're watching anime when...
...you see some object on there that you have never seen before, and nobody touches it! It's just a screenshot of some THING that will drive you nuts until figure out just what the heck it is! (Example: Darume statue)
...mouths can be moved in two frames.
...you start having odd feelings towards the girls in the show or movie.
...you start having odd feelings towards the boys in the show or movie.
...you can't understand what they're saying without subtitles.
...you never, EVER see and hear a choreographed song number that just happens for no reason!
...you see the words "To Be Continued..." after EVERY episode!
...you find out that it's not a TV series, it's an OAV and there ain't no more of it!

...even the youngest, most mechanically challenged shmoe can operate a higly complex mech with thousands of different buttons and joysticks, knowing what each of their function is and do it like a pro on first tri (*cough* Evangelion *cough* Mobile Suit Gundam *cough*)

whenever something is groped multiple times it makes a poit sound, like breast butts and Inu Yasha's ears.
faces turn red all over when they do something they know shouldn't be done.
faces turn blue when there scared or have a stomach sickness.
little 3-sided thick veins pop up on peoples heads when there pissed.
eyes can turn from big and sparkly to large and piercing instantly.
even the cutest little catgirl can be the most dangerous.

You know it's anime when
...The villains always start out weak and every time the hero gets stronger, so do the villains.
...The name of the show is incredibly long and descriptive(eg. All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku)
...The main characters friends can beat on him, blow him up, kick him into the stratosphere etc. without consequences, but the instant he gets hit in a fight with a real opponent or bad guy, he actually gets hurt.
...Guns never work unless they are used by the main character
...There is at least one pervert, male or female
...The cool, badass characters with the skill, training and kickass weapons get their asses kicked by a whiny kid with no skills or training whatsoever who has been doing the hero thing for all of five minutes.
