I did NOT know that the Netherlands was so strict in terms of violence in anime. Of course, wasn't it there in Holland that there was that incident where a young boy killed another kid while trying to pretend being a Power Ranger?

That might explain a few things if you ask me!

Well I can answer a few:

1) Because Luffy DOES sound a bit like a kid in the Japanese track, but the US dub voice sounds TOO kiddy.

2) That was bad judgement on 4Kids' part. They thought it'd be more hip. STUPID STUPID PEOPLE!

3) It's on syndicated Saturday morning TV! What do you expect? Just be glad that the Arlong saga got in there and some other story development points!

4) I've seen some creative use in Japanese to English translations before. Too literal, and it can sound REALLY boring! (Wrath of the Yotoden or something like that) Too far, and it just becomes dumb! (Thank goodness he was wearing an asbestos suit!) Right now, the dub is towards the dumb part, especially since they have to re-do a good portion of dialogue in order to match their editing. (Yeah right, Sanji has a SUCKER that he SMOKES! HMMMM... EDIT MAYBE!?)

All in all, for the love of all that is good, if 4Kids can release Shaman King uncut (64 episodes of Shaman goodness coming our way!), then there is NO REASON that they can't do the same with One Piece, WHICH THEY BETTER! And it better have original Japanese tracks too or HEADS WILL ROLL!

1. You mean.. he IS a kid.. too kidddy or not... there aren't that many little kids going.. "Luffy sounds too kiddy"

2. They do it for the little american kids.... (though, but yeha, they should have stuck with that.... same melody.. english words.. thing they said they were gonna do. but didn't)

4.i havn't seen the sub.. and i've barely seen the dub.. so I dunno much about taht..

and I thought there was some news that they WERE gonna have uncut one piece dvds.. i forgot where i heard about it though..

So wait a second, the anime characters in Deutsch translations can swear as much as they want, but they can't show blood or violence? That IS a bit hypocritical!

Although from the sounds of it, Holland is not as strict about nudity in anime as the USA is.

Let me get this straight, there was a ship that went from Holland to the USA and on the bow of the ship was a naked mermaid? Now THAT would have been interesting to see!

let me see. Take DBZ if you will. krillen dies whit one blaste. on his back wit a little bid of blood (japan he gets his ass kicked first) very shor shot. Next long shot abouth vegita coursing about well.. everthing.

Some of the english voices were "okay"...but after hearing Sanji's terrible Jersey?/Brooklyn? accent I was truely dissapointed.
