Kimagure Orange Road
Video Girl Ai (Manga)
Maison Ikokku
Urusei Yatsura (especially Lum the Forever, The Final Chapter, Forever My Darling, and Remember My Love)
Robotech: The Macross Saga
Super Dimensional Fortress Macross the Movie: Do You Remember Love?
I"s
Boys over Flowers
Sailor Moon
I haven't seen it, but knowing what it's based on, Gankutsuou: Le Conte de Monte Cristo. Love and betrayal has a lot to do with the Dumas book.
It's already been said, but I really have to emphasize it: the Love Hina manga; that's about the best romance I've read in a long time.
There's also the strong Yusuke and Keiko relationship in Yu Yu Hakusho, but that sort of goes on and off in importance.

I'd recommend Voices of a Distant Star myself.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

It's not really a great love story per se, even if it has some great love-related subplots, but... see it anyway. You will NOT be disappointed with it as far as pieces of theatrical emotions go.EmilLang1000 wrote: I haven't seen it, but knowing what it's based on, Gankutsuou: Le Conte de Monte Cristo. The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I can't believe no one suggested this already! I would have to go with Saikano as being one of the most gripping anime love stories... It's the "last love song on this little planet." And absolutely one of my favs.
It's really realistic with all the character's emotions, but don't expect something really happy, flashy or bubbly, cause it won't be any of those.
