Don't angst on things that you missed at a specific age. While you are doing that you are missing out on the things you could be doing right now. Live your life, be yourself, try to learn some tact by observing others. Be a giver not a taker. Take it easy... everyone is just as nervous at least once in their life.

As for anime? I love it to death, but remember the words of William Shatner "It's just a TV show! You took what I did as a lark for a couple of years and turned it into a collosial waste of time". I love anime and I like to cosplay.... I like other anime fans... but don't let it rule your life. :D

Like anime? Cosplay? Crossovers? AMVs? You need to go to....

First, high school sucks. Don't believe the teen movies, its all a lie. The only ones having fun are failing with no future plan.
   Now as funny as that is, it's not completely true. I had a ball in HS and I am not failing.....although I don't really have a future plan, but that's just a style difference  .

Anyway, everyone has given you good advice, take it to heart. It's not too late to be a social butterfly. Hell, you may find out that it's not all it's cracked up to be.

At least you have one thing going for you off top, you recognize that you could possibly be not as advanced in socialization. That realization right there is the start in the right direction.

Just be cool, once placed out in social situations you will find people that have the same interests as you and it will be fine.

Ok dude I understand what your going threw , BUT!!!!!! i really don't think their is an excuse for not having any friends and never having a girl friend. The problem might be that you never stoped watching anime and you never made any attempt at anything else like friends. Maybe I'm wrong maybe you not being in a real school was the reason for that, but trust me college will rock for you, but you have to try to be social. To try and get over the fact that your getting older than your anime characters you have 2 options. Option 1 you have to realize that its just a cartoon nothing more than lines that move ok..... 2nd option you could try and look at the high school anime in a diffrent way from comparing your expriences in highschool to theirs. Most of the time anime characters lives are very extravagent and unrealistic. 3/4 of the stuff they do is not done by normal highschool students. I actually fully understand how you feel. When you watch anime you form special relationships with the characters that are in the show. Tell me if I'm right after watching a long anime series that you really like for a long time you feel sad and empty for a little while. that happens to me and i really don't know what that has to do with your problem, but whatever dude. Try to be optimistic.!!!

Basicly I myself started watching anime when I was 13 im now 17 and I have come to the conclusion that this is just a lifestyle you either accept it or drop it and move on its hard for people to adjust they're lifestyle... I myself have a differant school system and basicly i have made the change that you're about to make half a year ago... Its realy hard but its not as hard as you think ones you passed it...

Basicly just give a other lifestyle a chance or just try and combine it like most people try to do with they're daily life =)

Damn You!
Are you really that stupid?
High School Sucks!
don't belive anime and american movies showing you a bright picture of high school
these are movies and not reality
in reality in contrast to anime
your teachers are fat conservative bitches that got abused as kids
(i know that because my mom was a teacher!)
i study in a high school and all it's given me is anarchist thoughts and behavior(which is questionably bad)
as for socializing in high school i can't give you any tips cause i have no friends either
just remember that if you watched anime all this time it means you didn't waste your time even if people tell you that you did
cause if watched lots of it.....it means you like it!
