How many people who hate DBZ have actually seen it uncut?

Dragonball wasn't that bad because at least it had a story line that wasn't predictable. In Dragonball GT they tried to go back to the original formula but just couldn't stick with it.

Predictable?
Well I would have to say that DBZ is no more predictable than the general anime out there. I love Ranma, but it is largely predictable. Or maybe it's just me, but watching the first series for the first time with my friends (who had already seen it) were amazed that I kept saying things that would happen later on in the show. I've only seen up through season two so far, but it's been pretty fairly well predictible up to this point, but I still love the show.
A few Spoilers for DBZ maybe.
I think part of what makes a show funny is the predictable nature of some of the characters. I personally love how in DBZ Goku is always and has always been this carefree positive guy even though he has to go through all this bullshit, and how vegeta still obsesses about beating Goku in a fight throughout the entire series, and how Bu really likes that candy (the part where Piccalo (look I don't know how to spell some of these names) destroys the interdimensional time chamber portal, and Bu freaks out about not having his "Cookies" or was it "Candy" anyways me and my friends were dying with laughter.
OK the rest of this has some really are big spoilers.
Also, how the fusion dance is so obviously gay, damn and DBZ makes fun of it too. Not to mention they make fun of how long it takes to power up, when the head Kai (the old guy) takes fifty episodes to help Gohan power up, and he's obviously jerking his chain the whole time.
Don't go telling me that you predicted that the Z sword would break, that was great and totally unexpected. Furthemore, there is no way you could predict Mr. Satan befriending and for a time stopping Bu from destruction. (I haven't seen the latest episodes in the saga but I heard the story line gets even weirder). If you could predict these things then Kudos, but I'm damned not sure as to how.
Another thing, I didn't watch the Cell Saga too much, but of the parts I did watch, did you honestly think that Cell was going to come back?
Also, even when I said that characters are pretty well stable even then characters go out of their personalities from time to time to do unexpected things (if you've watched more than 10 episodes of DBZ you'll know this).
Yes it is a predictable formula they use, but grafted within the predictibity are many unexpected things. And if you fault DBZ for having a predictable formula then you need to fault other shows such as Ranma, Tenchi (even the OAV though unpredictable has a predictable general formula), Berserk etc. But these are still great animes.

How is it predictable? DBZ is just like wrestling. There is only so many moves that you can do. First off you always know that the good guys win and even if a character dies, the other world is a better place to go to so every one is always happy, happy, happy. Its so lame at least in eva everyone dies, and they are screwed in the process. Not saying there is anything wrong with being happy but damn, its just annoying and the story line is shallow at best. Anyways Im not going to get into a fight over DBZ, its not worth my time.

I think the main thing is that the plot seems to move a little too slowly for my tastes, and the characters just don't seem to get very much really good development. There's some character development.. there has to be, sure... but it's just not ont he same level with other shows I like. I prefer characters that you get to know so well that you begin to feel what they feel, and I prefer a plotline that moves you meotionally.. not just gets your blood boiling. Sorry, but I didn't shed a tear any of the times Goku died. *shrugs*LittleKefalos wrote:well then, those who don't like DBZ (and have seen it uncut) what don't you like about it?
And I really didn't feel the love between any of the charaters in their relationships from what I've seen.
Admittedly, I have only seen a smal chunk of DBZ... but what I see, honestly, isn't that great. It's like watching pro wrestling.. it can be entertaining, but overall, it's not all that.

You guys have to understand that DB started as a comedy. There really is no Distinction between DB and DBZ. Sure, it's not the greatest ahow out there, but it was always a fun watch to me. The only real flaw I can find is that the show was unnecessarily stretched out way too long. That's why I enjoyed the manga a lot more than I did the anime... not so many damn filler episodes.
There are many better animes out there, but DB is not such utter crap.

what is sad is how they needed GT to fill in all the plotholes that were left from DBZ.

dbz uncut is practicaly the same thing. Except with a few more Sexual jokes and blood. They cant cut a whole lot out of it and still have fit a half hour timeslot. Only about 2-3 minutes is gone from an episode. occasionally a whole episode is ommited but with a series length of what...200 eps, that repeat the same storyline over and over. The earth is in danger! its up to goku to save the day!, but wait goku isnt here yet! oh no we need to hold them off until he can come save us. Your not missing much.
