You already STOPPED FOLLOWING the law, and you "knew this already". I'm just saying you should STOP WORRYING about breaking it.kikai_saigono wrote:knew this alreadysuperboi wrote:You can't be serious about that. This website itself is breaking the law by hosting fan made videos of some1elses intellectual property. We weren't given permission by the creators of the Anime to use their footage, and if the owners really thought it was necessary, they could probably shut u guys down.
so we should STOP following the law? that'll get us places...superboi wrote:Stop worrying so much about the law, and lets just have fun. I'm sure even you realize that every Bleach and Naruto AMV u get here is probably from DB anyway, so just relax. They help give u guys something to do.
Ok, but that doesn't change the fact that its still illegal. Fansubbing in general is illegal, and running a site that hosts a video that was made from footage illegally obtained, and illegally used without the owners permission is by my guess illegal.Rapture** wrote:In fact, most of AMV here are made from fansubs. I'm not talkin' 'bout DB - I'm talkin' 'bout all other fansub sites. And lots of great AMV's were created using fansubs. Look at the "Whisper Of The Beast".superboi wrote:Stop worrying so much about the law, and lets just have fun. I'm not saying the AMV isn't great (OMG I just saw it and that is freakin awesome... makes me wish they put that much effort into the fillers, or even the openings for that matter)... I'm just sayin it seems hypocritical to say we can't post about a website that lists fansubs (when at the time of the posting it didn't which makes it seem even weirder that u care all that much), when your breaking the law yourself.
You know if any1's ranting its you right now. I'm calm as can be, and simply debating. If you can't stand a polite argument without getting so upset then maybe you should go somewhere else.BasharOfTheAges wrote:All the shit you said doesn't mean jack... it's still against forum rules to link to sites like that. That's it. go rant somewhere else.
All in all this is what I'm talking about NOW. I was simply sharing something that seemed like important news (I know better now since it was just a trick, and they changed the website since April 1st), but you guys can't even take a joke. You jump down a person's throat the second its against forum rules (which I think I proved to be contradictory unless some1 can explain otherwise), and you completely change the subject of the thread to something entirely.

wow... that just sucks doesn't it? But all that came about because a fan of the site came to the band and brought light to it by asking if they made those videos which rarely ever happens (1st case like that I've ever heard of).Malificus wrote:Just in case you aren't being sarcastic, here's the link you apparently missed in my post. You know if I were in that band I would try to buy rights from the anime to use it in a music video, and make the best video my new music video, and use it with out paying the editor since he used it illegally, and doesn't own it.
I'm sure the editor wouldn't mind anyway since he made it with out expecting money anyway, and it would do nothing but give him recognition as an editor (if he could prove it was his work). Its a win/win/win (for the anime as well) situation, but thats just what I would have done in their shoes.

Superboi. If you clearly read the rules you would know that you are violating one of th emajor ones. Im going to turn you in myself to the Admin for telling where to get downloads or wares from unless you remove it from your post. So what its illegal,if you cannot abide by the rules here you do not need to be here simple as that.

Uhmm... I think the admins already know since the link was taken down way b4 u even posted this, and I totally would have taken it down myself, but uhm... how do I put this. There wasn't any "EDIT" button, so it was kinda stuck.yuppa wrote:Superboi. If you clearly read the rules you would know that you are violating one of th emajor ones. But what I don't understand is how can u blame me for not abiding by the rules of the forum when AT THE TIME OF THE POST that link did NOT send you to a site where u could download anime. I am completely powerless as to what they decide to put on the site, and it was not my decision to have the website turned back into a place where u could download anime, so no, I did not violate forum rules. And u need to calm down anyway cuz its a stupid rule to begin with, (heres why) because you guys aren't following the law already.
Its easy to say I'm breaking the rules of the forum, but not once has any1 given any reason as to WHY the rules are that way. I've given plenty of reasons as to WHY the rules shouldn't be that way, and the only comeback I keep seeing is "ITS THE RULES!!!! I'M GONNA REPORT YOU!!! NEWB!!!!" (ok so no1 actually said that last1). Believe me I understand those are the rules. yer not the 1st person to tell me. If u wanna be the 1st person to tell me something though then tell me WHY those are the rules. What process of logical thinking went into some1 making up such a hypocritical rule?

Yes, we're already breaking the law. But here we promote actually buying the CDs and DVDs for your sources. Not only is it more morally correct, but then you're still supporting the industry and there's more of a chance of companies turning a blind eye if they know they're still making money. (Yes, they can still persue legal action if they wanted. Ripping footage and using it elsewhere is still illegal. But if they had their choice between going after an AMV site that mostly bought their footage and one that mostly downloaded their footage, they're more likely to choose the one who downloads their footage. Because they're losing a lot more money off them and they wouldn't be pissing off potential income, since the people never paid for their stuff to begin with.) And so, between ethics and trying not to piss of the capitalistic copyright gods any more than they have to, the org asks you to use CD/DVD footage that you bought. And while they can't really stop people from using downloaded footage, they can prevent people from posting links that lead to downloaded footage. And that is why you are not allowed to post links to download sites.

and that makes perfect sense now. That's all it took to change my mind. I completely understand where your coming from with this now, and all it took was a simple explanation. Wurpess, I commend you on ability to actually form an argument on these boards. It doesn't take much to change my mind about something at all. If you can logically explain your point with out saying "All the shit you said doesn't mean jack..." thus undermining what I say by calling it "shit", and actually get your point across w/out flaming, then I'm as good as sold.
Thanx for helping me understand, and good day to you.
