... you do realize, don't you, that if the DVDs you get have the Japanese language tracks on them in the first place, then it's almost a sure thing that they haven't been edited or censored?

Meh,they still do awful dubs. I can't stand their dubs, since most of series have totaly not fitting voices. If I can choose - english dub,no subs ; japanese dub, subs ; japanese dub,no subs.

I would choose japanese dub with subs, cuz' I don't want to ruin my impression of series with some assholes voice. If there are no subs (possibly .mkv or .ogm) then I'll try to at least understand the situation from picture, instead of listening to those idiots.

Just look at Bleach dub! What's wrong with them? Ichigo sounds as if he got kick in his balls! And what's with all that accent? If I would got to see english dub instead of japanese,I would end up watching like 5-6 eps,and would remove it from my sight.
:D I like laughter ;DD

Meh.

In rare cases, I've bought the English dub if I think the voice acting is acceptable. However, I've found this true in only two anime, which were Fruits Basket (I actually preferred the English over the Japanese, due mostly to Kyo's voice actor) and Evangelion. However, both of those I knew the English voice actor before the Japanese one, so the Japanese one sounds strange to me now. I saw both on television, so it ruined me.

In all other cases, I refuse outright to purchase anime that have english dubs. I prefer reading the subs over hearing bad dubs. *cough*Carcaptors*cough*

So, no you're not weird.

I'm an anti-dub activist. I watch everything in the original language, with the only exception made to the stuff I grew up with (like the Brazillian dubs of Saint Seiya, Card Captor Sakura and The Simpsons). And only animation, as you see. Dubbed live action = epic fail.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

That rules out 95% of the animé released in Region 1 right there.

So what, do you buy subtitled VHS tapes? :?

Dubs suck, except in the very, VERY rare exception. Stick with your subs. :)

The ignorance of some of the posters in this thread flat out saddens me. :?

What bothers me more is they post one-liners and then disappear like it's some hit and run type of thing.
