Yeah, I remember watching Pokemon and Hamtaro when I was like 5 or 6. Good times...

Re: First anime you ever saw?
I've been watching anime for at least 20 years. I'm sure the first 5 years I was unaware it was anything special, just a different type of animation and nothing worth mention.
When was Starblazers first on TV?

Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.

Probably either Pokemon, Digimon, or Sailor Moon, but Eureka Seven was the first anime I watched from start to finish fully.

Re: First anime you ever saw?
reading some of these answers makes me feel old. I would have to say officially it was Starblazers that I first saw and got me interested into anime (before I knew it even came from Japan) and would even watch Saint Sieya on one of the spanish channels and catching Ronin Warriors early in the morning before going to school, but I would have to say, Ninja Scroll was the final nail in the coffin that made me aware of this genre and kept me hook ever since.

Re: First anime you ever saw?
the first show that I can remember ever seeing that I didn't know was anime was the original transformers, and Ronin warriors (I can;t remember which actually came first) used to watch both religiously as a kid ;p
However the first series that got me into anime (introduced from another fan) was Ranma 1/2, Tenchi muyo, and Devil hunter yohko. He gave me all 3 of those at the same time, which were incidentally his favorites at the time ;p Ever since then I've been hooked on anime ;p

Although Transformers is a joint US-Japan production, so not sure if that really counts as anime.
