Well put Heero, but if you were an integral part of the fate of humankind, would you obey orders or be a rebel?
And of course, there are personal (and genetic) reasons for how she acts around Gendo, whether shes aware of it or not.

Both points noted (then again, that first part never stopped Shinji or Asuka from breaking with the plan...but I digress)
I am also aware she has her reasons for her complacency towards Gendou, but still, I guess I just found the character hard to warm up to. (Well...that, and there's only so much fanservice and H-based stuff revolving around an emotionally dead child that one can stand.)
But, that's getting into personal reasons and a rant for another day...(come to think of it, that whole mini-market was part of what's made me cold on EVA of late...)
In case you never learned, two wrongs don't make a right. Just because people get away with something doesn't make that activity legal and doesn't make them immune to criminal prosecution. Ignorance is not a very good defense in a court of law. Now please stay on-topic.]
Sorry for going a lil OT, I would have started a new thread but...oh yeah, there isn't an OT group now. I hate to be the one to break this to ya MOD467 but you don't practice what you preach. On the one hand you'd like to believe that pirating is bad, illegal, nefarious, and all shades of ill mannered...but the thing of it is, everytime you download something from the .org, YOU ARE PIRATING! Now you can be like some people in teh emulation community and try and hide what you're doing, paint it up with a big red bow and fancy packaging (like when they only claim to download old games), but that DOES NOT negate the fact that you are a hypocrit, YOU ARE A PIRATE!

Let me just smack you REAL hard with reality for a moment:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=24730

BOOM! Right there, a video that's on local download that has the song "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. Now uh, I'm not sure when exactly it skipped you, but Metallica doesn't want their songs being distributed freely around the Inet, whether they're attached to a video of slopily edited anime or not, THEY DO NOT WANT THEIR MUSIC BEING DISTRIBTUED! YOU ARE DISTRIBUTING THEIR MUSIC! YOU ARE A PIRATE!

Now what part EXACTLY of that isn't clickin for you? I mean, no, REALLY.

[MOD467: The part where you thought that you could win this argument. No, REALLY.

This whole spiel about my personal character, which you know nothing about, doesn't change the legality of piracy in any way, shape or form. Your post relies on two assumptions which I will now respond to.

First of all, I never said I wasn't a pirate. But then again, I didn't use that as a basis for my statement. Second, I don't download AMVs. I only watch them at conventions or my own or at my friends' places if they are showing them. I never donated to the .org so I don't feel it is my right to use the Golden Donut services. I leave the video-related problems to the other mods. Those just happen to be my principles though, and I don't force them on others.

In MY statement, which you can read at the top, I was merely stating that people will be held accountable for their actions and have to take responsibility for them if they are found breaking the law. Since this is the reality of the world we live in, it would be prudent to be aware of the possible consequences that you face. Ignorance may be bliss, but it does not make a very good shield for the harshness of life.

And no, I don't expect you to change your ways. You seem too close-minded for that, but I'll leave this post up for others to read in hopes that they at least understand what I'm saying. And I will also prune any more completely off-topic posts if I see them from here on in.]

Hehe, yeah it didnt stop asuka and shinji because they are 14 year old kids and acted like it. During the anime Rei was the only major character who came away with a shred of maturity (except MAYBE Misato in some aspects). (supporting characters like Kaji and Fuyutsuki seemed pretty mature, but for everyone else NGE was a big soap opera)
(Well...that, and there's only so much fanservice and H-based stuff revolving around an emotionally dead child that one can stand.)
Very good point. I can see how this would really bother some people. It personally made me laugh, because it was just so damn awkward (Which is how shock/echi humor works). Its even worse the second time you see the series when you know who/what she is.

I agree with that ... yeah the only child that showed a bit of maturity was Rei ... shinji couldnt figure out himself and acted childish on issues that was fairly important to saving the world ... asuka just acted childish when shinji beat the angels and not her... Everyone one else seemed to be mature and all so its all good.

Goku, vegita, and just about every character in DBZ deserves to die a horrible death for being in that godforsaken show.

The Rei nudity in EoE didnt bother me because for the most part it was meant to be taken non sexually, but those nude "action figures" and what not sent more than just one shiver down my spine. I mean sure if they sexualized Misato to the same extent I wouldnt mind, but considering Rei's age and personality... its just not something i can wrap my head around.
