In case you never learned, two wrongs don't make a right. Just because people get away with something doesn't make that activity legal and doesn't make them immune to criminal prosecution. Ignorance is not a very good defense in a court of law. Now please stay on-topic.]
Sorry for going a lil OT, I would have started a new thread but...oh yeah, there isn't an OT group now. I hate to be the one to break this to ya MOD467 but you don't practice what you preach. On the one hand you'd like to believe that pirating is bad, illegal, nefarious, and all shades of ill mannered...but the thing of it is, everytime you download something from the .org, YOU ARE PIRATING! Now you can be like some people in teh emulation community and try and hide what you're doing, paint it up with a big red bow and fancy packaging (like when they only claim to download old games), but that DOES NOT negate the fact that you are a hypocrit, YOU ARE A PIRATE!
Let me just smack you REAL hard with reality for a moment:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=24730
BOOM! Right there, a video that's on local download that has the song "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. Now uh, I'm not sure when exactly it skipped you, but Metallica doesn't want their songs being distributed freely around the Inet, whether they're attached to a video of slopily edited anime or not, THEY DO NOT WANT THEIR MUSIC BEING DISTRIBTUED! YOU ARE DISTRIBUTING THEIR MUSIC! YOU ARE A PIRATE!
Now what part EXACTLY of that isn't clickin for you? I mean, no, REALLY.
[MOD467: The part where you thought that you could win this argument. No, REALLY.
This whole spiel about my personal character, which you know nothing about, doesn't change the legality of piracy in any way, shape or form. Your post relies on two assumptions which I will now respond to.
First of all, I never said I wasn't a pirate. But then again, I didn't use that as a basis for my statement. Second, I don't download AMVs. I only watch them at conventions or my own or at my friends' places if they are showing them. I never donated to the .org so I don't feel it is my right to use the Golden Donut services. I leave the video-related problems to the other mods. Those just happen to be my principles though, and I don't force them on others.
In MY statement, which you can read at the top, I was merely stating that people will be held accountable for their actions and have to take responsibility for them if they are found breaking the law. Since this is the reality of the world we live in, it would be prudent to be aware of the possible consequences that you face. Ignorance may be bliss, but it does not make a very good shield for the harshness of life.
And no, I don't expect you to change your ways. You seem too close-minded for that, but I'll leave this post up for others to read in hopes that they at least understand what I'm saying. And I will also prune any more completely off-topic posts if I see them from here on in.]
