The Dead Sea Scrolls are Origional copies of a few books out of the Old Testament. So, yeah, of course it has something to do with the Bible (which includes both the Old and New Testaments).

I saw the series for the second time with my very dedicated christian friend, who was pointing things out along the way. But then again, he told me that the dead sea scrolls were related to the bible. Even considering what Mr. Oni said, I am not convinced as he was a very competent person, with a regular credit load of 22 credit hours or more, a very good gpa (upper 3's), and is currently (in his 5th year of) pursuing his PhD to become a Doctor. He was particularly well educated on religion (he is [ironically] of arab decent). Not like that matters if he's wrong, but I look up to him as a credible person.
Anyway, I think the show is more about people with serious mental issues (which represented aspects of Anno's mind at the time he wrote it) than about religious prophecies. It works in both ways however, so I came away really liking the show a lot, even if it wasnt totally explained.
The surface story of Evangelion takes most of its refernces from the Khaballa... all the angels in the series are named after the angels mentioned there and the designs for the angels are based on aspects of said Angel.
The symbols that are throughout the series are likewise contained. The seven eyes is the symbol for Lillith (though Lillith was not an Angel, but the 2nd Bride of Adam (bearing in mind that in the original story of Adam and Eve, there were three brides made... the last one being Eve... and Adam ended up with Eve)
Lillith went on to become the mother of all demons... and the EVA Units take their design based on the descriptions of Lillith's children... which makes sense since the EVAs are made from Lillith.
Lillith - Mother of Demons...
Lillith - Used to help make the Eva series... the EVAs fight angels... hence, they are demons....
Lillith - the mother of all Demons.
There's a lot of cool stuff like that...
However... that's the surface story...
the main story is, of course, that of Shinji... and his story is man's story. The problems of dealing with other people, the problems of finding self worth, the problems of finding identity, the disguises and defenses we put up... it just deals with the psychological and philisophical questions of life.
These two complicate stories combined make up the bulk of the Evangelion TV series.

There are two kinds of people in this world:
Those who divide people into two kinds of groups
and those who don't.

Luckily, I'm skeptical as to most people's assertions.

The Dead Sea Scrolls contain early copies of texts from the Old Testament and information on the rules and lives of an ancient group of Jews. You are quite silly if you think they have nothing to do with Judeo-Christian religious study.
Love Hina gets my vote for worst anime.

Don't you hate it when people describe something as "cute" when they really mean "God, I want to fuck that"?

. . . If you say so.the isreali goverment won't let you read all the dead sea scrolls anyway.
Ah yes, because the quality of one anime title over another should be determined by imaginary mud-wrestling matches between their leading female characters. How could I have forgotten? I always assumed assessment of a work was based on things like plot and character development. In a cat fight. Asuka versu Naru who wins?
That is beside the point though. I was not comparing Love Hina to Eva (I have not seen Eva, though all I have heard of it are good things); I was simply stating that in my opinion Love Hina is one of the worst anime titles ever created.
