I started re-watching Trigun since I was finally able to get my hands on the DVDs. Also in the middle of watching Initial D: Fourth Stage.

Oldwrench: I'm half your age (if memory serves) and I was a bit choked up at the end of Gunslinger Girls. As well as halfway through, etc etc. Very realistic portrayal of girls in rock-bottom situations finding a new kind of rock-bottom.

I just finished watching Yumeria. Even for an ecchi series, there is so little plot and attention to storytelling and characterization that I had a hard time finishing it. Luckily it's only 12 episodes, I just kinda threw myself into it and enjoyed the little bits of it I liked.

Just got all of Beck, so I'm so excited I could squeal. Black Cat 1-6, Karin 4, Mashishi 1-5, and Jigoku Shoujo 1-2.

I just watched the anime Early Reins that I got from the media Blasters sale at Rightstuf.com. YEEHA, an anime western, not scifi or Cowboy Bebop type but real 1860's American old west, anime style. That, of course, would make it about six young women traveling on a train that gets hijacked by some nasty bandits (I don't recall ever seeing a girl wearing a mini skirt in any John Wayne westerns, but then Margret is one cute little gal who wants to be a sheriff so maybe she is a bit different). These ladies don't take to kindly to being handled by the desperado's and decide to teach them a lesson or two. But wait, they have more of the gang waiting at the next junction, things look bad for the girls. Will the cavalry come in time? Will long tall Jones be waiting to rescue them? Or will the girls take matters into their own hands? Then another question, what is on this little train to make it so valuable to the bandits?

Watch this in the English dub, it's really quite good. I tried watching it in the Japanese with subs. Oh Please, a western is just wrong in Japanese. This anime is about 45 minutes long. It is pretty good animation, bright and colorful, well drawn, lots of action and very little fanservice of any kind. It's fun, it's fast, if you want someting a little different, I recommend it.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

Finally got around to getting Yakitate Japan. It's not that I'm disapointed, it's quiet good, I was just expecting it to be different. The characters are great story intriging, and the humour is quick. It gets a little hard to keep up with the jokes because they rely on punning alot, but the puase button is a friend to this anime.
