Always interesting to see a thread evolve from the given topic to something else entirely...
I would just like to thank Metro for posting that link to the evaotaku page. I went through the whole site and I must say it was thouroughly enlightening and answered many a question I've been holding about the series and movies for a long time...

They were approved by the creators of NGE...why can't I consider them a reliable source....?evaotaku.com (in reference to the RCB and D&R program books) wrote:These books are especially interesting because they were specifically approved by Studio Gainax and the producers of Evangelion. Thus they offer a rare look at Evangelion from the creators themselves. They are canon and official.

i ussually find reding is better to visual i.e, a book turned into a film....(thinks of LOTR and shudders). As to eva, this is still going on????? Hmm, tose that found episodes 25/26 unrelated and boring, i think they missed the point of the series
the story of eva is about shinji growth and development, the evas are just a vehicle for delivering the point (well it was something like that)
Eva wasnt just a big mech story.............
As for the books, i cant coment on them, reason being i have never read them, althought, i have tried reading the influences on Eva, i.e Paradise Lost, as these will give better insight, the kabalah, bible and other religeous texts can give more insight.............but it will take u a bloody long time to read them all.......
somewhere along the lines, i lost the point of the conversation

Well what he is getting at (which is a good point) is that these things need to be confirmed within the show itself since well..it's the #1 source of information...if something seems contradictory in the book...the show is obviously correct.neo eva wrote:They were approved by the creators of NGE...why can't I consider them a reliable source....?evaotaku.com (in reference to the RCB and D&R program books) wrote:These books are especially interesting because they were specifically approved by Studio Gainax and the producers of Evangelion. HOWEVER, even though that's true, I think that almost all of the things found in the RCB DO coincide with what is said and seen in the show. It would appear you agree since you said it answered your questions. If you question the book...rewatch the show with those answers in mind and you'll see how everything fits together and relates correctly (book -> show).

ditto, just thought i'd also let it be known that i'm also letting the argument die, it's been resolved. "Live and let live..." (one of my favorite quotes, also "peace" is a good one.dwchang wrote:Well since you were never disrespectful about it...all we can do is respect your wishes and vice versa. I don't wanna get in a "I'm right, you're wrong" mentality. There is no "right" per se. If we both enjoy it for different reasons...so be it . Live and let live...Cole wrote:Kaji, dwchang,
I can understand what you're saying, but I doubt my tastes will change. Reading has always been more enjoyable for me than visual entertainment. I don't consider anime as "just cartoons", but by the same token, I don't consider tv shows of any kind to be as enthralling as a good book (not just fictional stuff, but biographies, histories, commentaries, etc.) Granted, I watch more anime these days than I read books. But I could never delve into the psychological aspect of an anime like EVA. Maybe that's too bad, but since I'm not exactly losing something I used to have, I don't mind in the least. I'm content with the likes of Rahxephon and Full Metal Panic.
(btw-Rahxephon looks sweet btw, but i've only seen Koopiskeva's vid Euphoria that used it, not any actual episodes, but i could only be saying this because the video was sweet)

Yeah I've heard it's similar to Eva (in a good way). I have had the first DVD for a few months and hope to watch it soon . I wonder if Koop's video will make sense after watching it...although his concept is fairly simple that most should see it regardless...just curious.Daio Kaji wrote: (btw-Rahxephon looks sweet btw, but i've only seen Koopiskeva's vid Euphoria that used it, not any actual episodes, but i could only be saying this because the video was sweet)

I'd post it, but it does contain spoilers

wow dude........ that puts all our speculation out the window a few month back, we were nearly there but not quite at that answer....... but thinking about it, it is a bit obvious........but i dont think thats the complete answer thought, it s part of it. I still hold that the 'how disgusting' is to symbolise Anno disgust at having to make the film
Anno- You bastards, what the fuck was wrong with the ending in the first place?? <shakes fist angrily in the air>
