Personally, I think she doesn't, at least no more than any other two characters from Eva. Really, I can actually tell the difference between Yui and a brown-haired Rei, and that between Rei and a blue-haired Yui. I think those clones have been in those tanks, or at least been in existence, for 14 years. . Now as i understand evas do combat. Combat causes damage. Damage can cause casualties. Therefore maybe on the safe side the reason they had so many at one point, as replacements.
