Hazarding a wild guess on the first part:

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and the T I'm guessing is Transexual (although there's a voice in the back of my head that keeps thing it could be transvestite...)

Otherwise, good way of looking at the situation

Transsexual is the most common, Transgendered also fits and it's a broader term, it basicly comes down to politically correct (Or anal retentive) you want to be. There seems to be nothing but smaller and smaller groups constantly trying to invent newer, overly specfic terms, so as to ruin everyone's lives.

Transvestite is someone who dresses like the opposite sex. I think. Trans for "cross" and "vest" as in vesta which, I believe, means clothing. Someone please correct my Latin.

Yup, that's right. With the psycological diagnosis discription of, 'One who dresses as a member of the opposit sex for temporar sexual or emotional satisfaction.'

Yes, transvestite is dressing the opposite - me wearing men's jeans and a shirt that buttons up wrong. Transgender means someone who gets their body changed into the opposite sex (usually called transexual). The two definitely aren't interchangeable.

Wrong, Trans-gender is a very broad umbrella term, you're thinking of Transsexual. Transgender covers... *things* Transsexuals, Transvestites and... well, I could list about 20 other specfic terms, but it'd make my stomach hurt with all that PC crap.
