How much of the series have you actually seen?
There ARE card games, yes, but there's a lot more to the storyline and the characters than just that.

I think that before labelling an anime as one of the "worst anime ever" you should watch it the whole way through, or at least enough of it to know what it's actually like.
Instead of just judging it by commercials and a couple of episodes that happened to come on tv one day. Because, no offence, but that's the opinion i got from your post. :/

Sorry if that sounds at all offensive, but it irritates me when people automatically class Yu-gi-oh as a bad anime, just because it features "card games".

Sorry for the double post, but there doesn't seem to be an edit button.
I made a mistake, this isn't a "worst anime" topic, it's about "least fav" anime. Sorry.
But even so, my other point still stands.

maybe, but people are entitled to their own opinions.
it's less likely to start a flame war if you explain why you don't like a series instead of just saying, "omg tihs seres is teh sukzorz" or, "this is for little kids, therefore it must suck"

now to be constructive...

Dragonball GT: I started to watch this, but I feel that they ruined it. More of the same from DBZ...but they didn't really continue from where DBZ left off. The story seemed to be pretty weak too.

Misaki Chronicles/Divergence eve: I watched one of the first episodes on a previews dvd that you get in NewType (USA) and never looked at it again. The story was very weak and the character design was like something out of picasso's nightmare. Incorrect proportions, really static & simplistic hair style, and...the pointy chests of the female characters that stick out a foot from the rest of their bodies...I wanted to tear my eyes out.

Record of Lodoss War: No plot development, little character development, and plot holes wide enough to drive a Mac truck through. The relationships between the caracters seems suprficial (probably from the lack of explaination). To the series's credit, the opening and ending themes are wonderful.

Serial Experiments Lain: I tried to watch it...but couldn't (partly because the dvd player stopped about halfway thorugh an episode). Not enough action/plot for me. I might watch it sometime and like it...but for some reason it just doesn't appeal to me.

.Hack//Dusk (Legend of the twighlight(sp)): From what I saw of this series...it was pretty much just a chibi version of .Hack//Sign.
To me, this is not a story that should have cute little characetrs who always smile. This is a story about running away, despair, destruction, etc. After watching .hack//sign, I was offended that they took the story and put happy, chibi characters in

Sorry, i wasn't deliberately trying to be a jerk or anything.
It's just that, i'm a fan of anime like Yu-gi-oh and Pokemon and after hearing them get bashed so often, or judged badly, sometimes by people who don't know anything about them, i can have a bit of a short fuse.
No hard feelings. =)

Anyways, to stay ontopic, I like pretty much all the anime that i've seen.
Well...there was Ghost in the Shell, Naruto and the Gundam series that i didn't like much, but that wasn't because they were necessarily bad anime, it was just that they weren't my type. Or in Naruto's case, i didn't like any of the characters.

For me for the anime I have seen, it would have to be...

1. Blue Gender the Movie, watched the series before this and it was just a diluted version cutting out a lot of the good bits and it didnt really make sence.

2. Escaflowne: the movie, watched the series before this and it didnt really make any sence.

3.Technolize, never really got the hang of the plot, and the idea of the human race fading out of existence because they were bored didnt really work.

4. L/R: Licensed by Royalty. Too bond try hard failed miserably.

5. Yukikaze, no real story line. couldnt get into it.

Most of these I have watched 3-4 episodes if not the whole series hoping it would get better ..

Evangelion
Mostly because the "character development" returned to 0 after the end of each episode. Also, I'm not a fan of "Happily Ever After" endings but this series took it to the other extreme. Who are they fighting against? God. Hmm...who do YOU think is gonna win?

Dragonball Z
It...never...goes...anywhere...at least, not in any hurry. If this series took one or two season(s), it may actually be worth watching. Pop Quiz! What will be seen this week in DBWhatever:
1. Lights, yelling, reverse gravity, and muscle bulge
2. Distant stick figures flying through the air grunting and pummeling each other
3. Vegetta being a dick. Again.
4. Someone breaking the limits of power, or speed, or etc. Again.
The original DB series was good fun. It didn't take itself seriously and had its fair share of hilarious moments. Please note, Z turned me off so much that I never saw GT.

Blood - The Last Vampire
Beautiful animation, enjoyable action. But it's far too short and in all honesty there isn't much solved in the movie.

Akira
Mostly, this is because I didn't understand what the hell was going on. I read the graphic novels hoping that something would be cleared up..but no. I was just as lost.

Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Again - beautiful animation, decent plot. My main contention is the final showdown between D and Meier Link - nothing happens. Which is a real shame 'cause Meier seemed like a real badass. My secondary contention is the whole blasting off into outer space thing. I doubt there's much game up there to hunt, folks.

5 Worst????

Well.....

1) S-cry-ed: Solely because of the whole Kazuma/Ryuho thing....it just felt like they were two years old or something with the way they went at it all the time. Other than that...it wasn't aweful; good idea. (I'm pretty sure I'm spelling Ryuho's name wrong...I just can't remember the right way....)

2) DragonBall Z : I want it noted that I do not think this was a bad anime only that I felt they took a very very very long time to get to the point. I must have watched Krillin/Gohan/Vegeta battle the Ginyu Force a bloody hundred times...now that's not the anime's fault just the programing, but it added to my frustration. Especially since Krillin had to die for Goku to finally kick Freeza's you know what.

3) Eureka 7: I am actually watching this so it's not a horrible show. My only thing was Rentin honestly. He kind of annoyied me in the beginning with all that langauge he was using; kind of felt like he was a brat. But he's shaping up now towards the end; honestly I like the sudden and extreme violence...the drama...I know I'm horrible.

4) Yu-Gi-Oh: Pretty much for the same reason I didn't end up liking Dragonball Z. It just felt like all they did was duel, I know that was the point, but it was one duel = several episodes with a lot of Yugi's fan club doubting him then one standing up for the heart of the cards and friendship!!!! All great stuff but just a little too much for me.

5)Fooly Cooly (Furi Kuri/FLCL) : Just because I never knew what was going on.

I know some of my reasons were pretty lame but what can I say they are my own reasons.

pretty much agree with Kazuko-Hirata-san, except that I finally got FLCL after seeing the anime about 3 times and reading the manga twice. (not too much to get, that's probably why it's so hard)

But pretty much any anime sucks in comparison to the manga. Not all of them, but most. The best animes are usually the ones that stick closest to the story from the mangas without censoring too much.
at least that's my two cents...

(I also noticed most of the animes being ripped on, where the ones that first introduced many of us to anime. examples include dbz, pokemon(more of a cartoon in my opinion), gundam, etc. Your 8 year old selves would smack you. (i first saw anime when i was 6 or 7, it was Ranma 1/2))
meh...
