Although the answer to this question is probably the same for both the original version and the edited dub, I cannot say absolutely for certain.)

The question: In the first season (the voyage to planet Iscandar), exactly How Many Times is the Wave Motion Gun actually fired? (NOTE: You don't necessarily have to tell WHERE the W.M.G. is used, the number of times will suffice.)

(YET ANOTHER NOTE: This question applies ONLY TO the main body of the episodes of the first season. It does NOT apply to previews, and it CERTAINLY DOES NOT apply to the End Credit sequence, as the W.M.G. is fired during that.)

The question: What is the name of the institute that Lalah's training at?

As for the Star Blazers question,

The Wave Motion Gun is fired five times on the voyage to Iscandar.

Once near the planet Jupiter, destroying the Gamilon base on the Floating Continent (and, unfortunately, the Floating Continent as well).
Once in Red Sea of Fire, into a solar flare in the Argo's path.
Twice near the planet Balan; first to destroy a Gamilon-created "Balanosaurus", the other time destroying the artificial sun around Balan.
Once on the planet Gamilon, at an undersea volcano within Acid Sea.
