Just try to remember dragonball started out as a gag comic. Later on, due to popular demand, the storiline changed to focus on the fighting/saving the world aspect.
But it remains a fighting/comedy series, especially in the comic.

No Shun, I don't have a website. There's a semi-oldish thread in All About Me with some of my more recent stuff. Called "Artsy Stuff", or something.
I like bugging people. Deal with it.

Yeah it did, then it moved into something serious, it's known as Akira Toriyama's most serious work.. and again, the focus are the characters, the fighting comes after the story. (as much as people REFUSE to believe it) To bad Akira Toriyama is so into making gag comics.. I wish he would get serious again. *cries* lol.. ah but oh well.

Heh, I should combine my dbz pages, but I'm too multi-fandom for that. If we're doing pimpage, my dbz 'fansite':
http://www.geocities.com/arigatomina_am ... amvs1.html
(amvs)
http://www.geocities.com/arigatomina/dbz_fiction.html
(fics - enter at your own risk)
http://www.geocities.com/kenshin9365_dbz/index.html
(pics - screencaps mostly)
http://www.geocities.com/arigatomina_bishonen/dbz.html
(bishonen captures)

^_^; I need to update my website.

You took me out of context, Mitsuka. What I said was that I make one exeption to the rule that I always finish an anime series. I then explained that rule and why it was applied. I've plowed through a lot of anime series I hated at first, and in a lot of cases I was very happy I did (Noir, Love Hina, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Inuyasha and Escaflowne most notably). And no, I haven't seen the whole thing, but I know how the show operates (notice how I never disputed that DBZ has some emotional moments). I'm not saying that DBZ is just about Fireballs and shouting, I'm just saying it contains those things, which is enough of a turnoff for some people that the rest of the show can't make up for that. One of my friends at my old college was older than me and saw the whole series subbed. It was and probably still is his favorite anime, although Evangelion was close he said. He told me why he liked it and thats when I realized that what he likes about anime is different than what I like about anime. I'm not bashing DBZ, I'm trying to destroy the egocentric viewpoints that surround it, the belief that if one person likes it, EVERYONE else can potentially like it just as much. Its frustrating, I know. I wish everyone loved Love Hina as much as I do.

What are some other animes you have seen? What are some of your other favorites?

FOOL! BLASPHEMING FOOL! Actually I kid, I'm fine with people having their own opinions and whatnot. But the shows I've taken from your list above IMO do deserve a 2nd glance. I know Witch Hunter Robin dramatically changes pace around halfway though, as does SDK. Just my 2 cents.

(just for referance sake, did you watch the Kenshin OAVs subbed or dubbed? Because it makes a world of differance...)
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

Some are way too depressing for me, I don't like that sort of anime as a rule. A few others are just *too* violent, even for my tastes (with depressing added in). And then there are one or two that confused me - and I don't like anime that confuses me (things I have to watch 4 times over to fully understand - I'm lazy that way).

Heh, it was the original and I really really never want to watch it again. I don't even like watching vids for it. I loved RK (saw that first), but the ovas are too depressing/violent/angsty/wife-ridden for me. I don't like Kenshin's wife, I don't like the depressing story there (I never really wanted to see his past first-hand after watching RK because I know I don't like depressing anime as a rule), and then the bloodshed didn't really bother me (I don't squick easily), but it just made the anime even more depressing (since I was seeing first-hand why Kenshin hates his past so much). Samurai X is one 'anime' that I really don't like at all. It's a great anime, sure, but I hated watching it and don't ever want to suffer through that again. ^_^;;
