Okay, this is a relatively simple music question (the answer IS the name of the anime).

What GAINAX anime makes use of a song composed by D. B. Kabalevsky? (HINT: It's on the OST. No, I can't say which one . . . not until after the answer's been given.)

Is it Hellsing. If I remember correctly there was one on the second OST.

Nope, it's not Wings of Honneamise. Ryuichi Sakamoto (along w/ three other Japanese composers) did that one. But Kabalevsky wasn't involved.

This one threw me, as I haven't seen Hellsing or listened to any of the soundtracks -- and especially since I hadn't heard that GAINAX was involved in its production. A quick search of the web shows that Hellsing was a GONZO production, not GAINAX.

YES!! Track 12 of the first FLCL OST is titled "Gallop." It's actually part of an orchestra suite composed by Dmitry Borisovich Kabalevsky, titled The Comedians. The track is used in Episode 3 of the anime.
