I remember reading something on their vices once, I can't remember any of it now. After I'm done with my health test I might look it up...
I like bugging people. Deal with it.

I actually stumbled upon that part while making an AMV to EoE. You'd
almost have to be looking for it.

Who shot Kaji?

Post by markedman247 » Thu Mar 20, 2003 3:28 am

Pen Pen. Think about it. Pen Pen had to live with Misato. He saw the pain. He saw the anguish. And after having to put up with Asuka's longing for Kaji and Misato's "I hate/love him" tendencies. He just had too much. Besides, Pen Pen was the only character that didn't have Vices.

Kaji was a womanizer (although he did have enough morals not to pick up someone who was underage).

I just posted my feelings on Eva. After reading the comments I hafta say I have a better understanding of the show. Does this mean I like it? No, its still kinda a downer (even with the new enlightenment) that people are now in the miasma. And that the two that are left still in physical form (now that may change) are Shinji and Asuka. I just hope that Asuka got over her issues other wise its gonna be a long, long existance with little to show for it.

Also, the pure tragedy is that Pen Pen probably didn't get transfered to the miasma and thus, he has to fend for himself for sake and curry.

They chose to be in physical form. Shinji chose a harsh reality where people could hurt him over the false reality of happiness. I assume Asuka got over her issues since she's there. In Episode 26, they mention everyone is going through instrumentality in their own way, but they only have time for Shinji. Although it can be argued that Shinji chose for Asuka to be there (shrug).

That may be a good thing since he wouldn't have to eat Misato's curry :). Also his AT field is just too powerful. Perhaps he is the 18th angel :).

all the while, nerv thought Kwarou (?) was the 18th angel, but all along it was the penguin, sneaky little blighter, no worry, no need for the evas, just defeat it with curry

interesting as how the more times u watch this sereis/films, the more thing u pick up, how anno finds everyway possible to put the characters throught a living hell for example, the only person to ever say to Shinji that he loved him, shinji was forced to kill.

However as to how the characters relate to us in real life, they just portrait forms of escapesism, Misato escasped by alcohol and sex, shinji by running away from his fears, Gendo by pushing away those closest to him (should have been his son, but he pushed him away) and Asuka by trying to be independent and not needing anyone, however if people were to distance themselves from others, im sured we would go mad. People need other people around them. Well that just my opinion anyway

Yes that's why (IMO) the ending is so powerful. Shinji choose true existence where he can be hurt as opposed to this ideal phony reality. This all goes back to the "Hedgehog's Dilemna." The closer we get, the more potential we have to hurting each other. In the end, Shinji chooses to take this risk and live his life with the people he loves.

No matter what anyone says about the show being "f'ed up!," and "depressing" I thought the ending was quite uplifting and think a lot of people need to see past the "story" and mecha, but that's just me and I could just be called an elitist (shrug).

its good to see that someone has a possitive view on the end of eoe (try saying that 3 times fast!), while its nice to live in a fantasy reality, the truth of reality will always hurt this brings the whole series back to as u said Dwchang the hegehogs dilema

Oh trust me, I am as happy to see that you see it that way. To be honest, I kind of hate hearing everyone complain about it being depressing when in reality it's not. Given, I believe that they are totally entitled to their opinion (even stuff like "Eva sucks"), but it still aggravates me since I think QUITE differently on it.

Back on topic though, I think it's a pertinent thing to say since almost all humans tend to *some times* live in their fantasy worlds and avoid human contact (whether it be because someone hurt them or whatever). The show has pertinent points about our existence and our interactions with each other and made me realize a few things about myself.
