... :? , sorry, please elaborate

at first i was on the boat of 'it'd better be in tokyo-3!' but does it really matter? the ENTIRE world was devastated by Second Impact, so there really wouldn't be much difference in a lot of the world and nothing extremely japanese was in evangelion's geographical setting, except for the housing that Asuka complains about, and the fact that they are on an island country, but even that doesn't make any difference except that they are near shore, so the rumored 'San Francisco-3' (wouldn't it be San-Francisco-2 anyways) wouldn't be too bad of a choice imo

i think the comments on Rei's HOTNESS were probably stirred up by a picture that had Rei in her plugsuit, but she looked incredibly hot and in her early 20's for sum odd alluring reason, but the important thing again is not accuracy to the anime, it's accuracy to the meaning, so as long as Rei is not so distracting because they give her orange hair or anything, i think i 'll be pretty tolerant of her appearance so long as she has Rei's soul within her, and by soul, i mean her personality and essense of Rei.

since the movie is still so early in production, i think there will be a lot of fresh talent to pick from for the actors. i agree that big name stars are a bad track to be on for attracting attention, so i hope they find either new or little-known talent (keyword here is talent) to play the roles. i wouldn't rule out the cast of Harry Potter, miss Watson to me looks like she could do very well, and i think she had pep in the movies, no i haven't seen them, but i caught bits and pieces when my sister did... if you wanna believe that or not i don't care.

only if their japaneseness is distracting, but chances are if they do use asian actors, it wouldn't be distracting, otherwise the caster for the film(s) should get fired/beat/tarred/feathered/feed to hungrey fire ants

I think people should wait to see what happens (a lot of people have suggested this as well)
if it turns out to be bad in comparison, then you will then have the right to have the following conversation:

You (eva-fan): Meh.. i think the original anime was better
Noob friend: But that was bad-ass when Mr. T came and kicked that angel's ass though! You gotta admit!
You (burning red with anger): ... [pulls out pulsating blade]

Live action eva

I say that if we are watching a live action movie based on anime than we should sure as hell see actors from the country of origin! Not only is it fair to the people who created the anime for a asian audiance but it is also fair to us otakus who truly live and love anime every day! Who's with me?

Who would care? Really? The Eva fans? What if the movie turns out great dispite the changes in nationality? Only the eva fans will notice and probably still gloat, meanwhile everyone else who's never even heard of the series until the l/a movie comes out look at that and don't really give a flying fuck.

But don't worry, I'm sure they'll have at least 1 asian person in the cast...but who will it be?..the Nerv headquarters janitor? Wait 6 years and find out!!

lol, that about sums the topic up at this point, nobody knows anything and everything could still change

i'm sure casting from the original country of origin would be nice, but wouldn't it be even better if evangelion would reach a more universal level of understanding, if we keep things japanese and exclusively for the japanese, that will be making a club that only certain people can enjoy and be a part of. so i would definately NOT want the casting to be exclusive to asian actors, not saying that i want all US actos, just saying that this topic of nationality should not be an issue, whoever plays the role best should get the part of whatever character, not whether the person is the right nationality or not.

Live action Eva

I see where you're coming from. After all that was one of the things that made Eva so great, all nationalities were represented, asuka was from Germany, other people were representing japan, and the final Eva's in the End of Evangelion were american! So Personnaly I hope to see a number of actors from other nationalities in this movie. But if it is another 6 years away I think ADV will have plenty of time to make a good decision.

Hey, I have a solution to this problem:

Make Yui, Fuyutsuki, Sensei, The Guy On The Plane, and most of Tokyo-3's civilian residents asian; make Rei, Kaworu, Gendo, Ritsuko, Kensuke, and one or two bridge bunnies white; make Asuka, Shinji, Misato, Toji, the other bridge bunnies, and a few minor characters half of each; and let the audience sort it all out. They might come to the conclusion that only multiracial people can pilot Evas or some wierd shit like that, but overall I think it would not have as many problems as a monoracial cast would have. And yes, I do insist that the pilot actors be 14...
Ask me about my secret stash of videos that can't be found anywhere anymore.
