Worst voices in Anime...

Trigun is actually pretty bad in Japanese. It is half Engrish to begin with so there are horrible situations of actors stumbling over a whole bunch of words. The acting is so far over the top and awfully delivered that it is actually quite annoying if you know the language at all. Meryl in particular is unbearable in Japanese as she sounds like a chipmunk on helium.

And American side, since people seem so intent on bashing Naruto.... go watch any of the New York dub jobs. This includes pretty much anything by CPM. A couple classics for the bad New York dubbing is Weiss Kreuz (okay the show is garbage too but the only redeeming quality to the show was it's cast) and DNA^2. Other real gems for bad dubbing here includes Grave of the Fireflies, Utena etc etc.

Oh and not on acting but on translation side, anything Steven Foster touched. Most of the shows become completely different be it stupid comedy (I think he did Goldenboy) or serious (Hoshi no Koe).

Of course I think 90% of adv dubs sounds like they were done by Texas hicks and that the company is seriously overrated. Their actors seem to be more known for attending cons nowadays than any major role they may have.

Adding to the list of bad japanese dubs, i was busy putting an episode of Scryed on my PSP, and the file i had was both languages, so once i was done i went and heard it in japanese, it was lower than awful, there wasn't one good voice on the show even compared to the englsh version, which made me think that the whole sub vs. dub war blown out of proportion.

Just about the entire Japanese RahXephon voice cast is terrible.

It's about the only time the English dub was markedly better then the Japanese VA were.

Japanese Ed from Cowboy Bebop. The English chick just leaves her in the dust.

With exceptions of Tiffany Grant and the chick who did Misato, the entire english voice cast of Eva. (Although Spike Spencer does what he can, he is so average comapred to the Japanese Shinji)

True, im not gonna attack everyone, theres a few that sound good.

Now then, one more series to avoid in japanese is G gundam, Sai Saichi's voice would have been fine if he were a 100 year old man.

...wow...I can't believe no one has mentioned Cardcaptor Sakura...er, I mean, "Cardcaptors", LOL.

That could pretty much go down in history as not only being THE WORST hack job EVER done to a series but the English voice acting was just...wow...it's so far beyond bad it shouldn't ever even be mentioned in polite conversation.

Another voice that just makes me cringe is the English Alucard in Hellsing...he sounds so fuckin weak and...human. The Japanese VA was infinitely better.

As has been mentioned before, the voice of the Japanese Goku in DBZ annoyed the hell out of me too, he sounded like a woman.

The English VAs in Kiddy Grade were also all pretty bad...plus they kinda butchered the original script. The worst part of that was when the VA who did Lumiere actually tried to SING the opening and closing songs...*shudder*...

On the GOOD side of things, I actually LIKED the English VA for Asuka...in fact I thought the whole English cast of NGE was pretty good.

I also liked the English VAs of Yu Yu Hakusho a LOT more than I did the original Japanese ones...but then I watched the English dub first, so I wonder if that might influence it somewhat.

Another real good VA is the one who did the English voice of Misaki in Angelic Layer. I was REALLY worried that they were gonna butcher that one on the dub so it was kind of a pleasant surprise.

My all time favorite VA though has got to be Sugar Baybee, she's just so unbelievably kyoot! I wish she would do more VA stuff. For reference she did the voice of Chibi Moon in Sailor Moon.

...uh, thanks Cap'n Obvious. A lot of women do male voices in anime...the trick is if they're GOOD they don't SOUND like women.
