Relationships and Age Differences

In the anime: Strawberry Eggs, am I the only one here that originally thought it was a pretty cute show with some promise, for comedy if nothing else?
I remember at one point in the series, when I went from thinkng, aww, how cute, she's developing a crush on her teacher. At a later point I went to, hey... isn't she a bit young for Hideki there? Why would an adult even be interested in a girl of that age?
Then I switched to: well, maybe it's a paternal love, like you would feel toward someone who needs guidance and protection.
Then I realized, no... this adult seems to be feeling some rather untoward things about the girl.
Then the series got stupid, sappy, and ended inconclusively.
You have to wonder how stuff like this gets greenlighted for production. Sure I know you can animate damm near anything, and given the stuff that comes out I'm more than a bit worried about the mental stability of some of the writers of tentacle type anime. But really, who would be the target audience for something like this? Young girls who develop crushes on their teachers? If that is the case then I guess the message is that it's ok? Maybe the audience would be adults that fantasize about young girls? In that case, isn't the whole anime a bit on the juvenile side of things?
The odd thing here, is that other than that particular aspect, I rather enjoyed the series (nothing fantastic like Azumanga or anything), and thought that by and large it was cute.
Any thoughts on this particular anime?

Sometimes debates get out of hand, and a logical discourse, of attempting to woo the opinions of the other side with facts and ideas fails. I, myself have been a bad bunny in this occasionally. Truth to tell, I don't think that you CAN have a topic comparing relationships that are attempted to be portrayed realistically without at the very least some personal ideology as part of that discussion. Once you start comparing differing idologies then you've got a pretty volatile subject at hand.

I expected this do die by the firing squad a long time ago. Oddly enough, most of the invective ridden posting earler was in fact on topic: Relationships.cloud clone wrote:Isn't this thread supposed to be about age differences in ANIME, or was I just imagining that I was in the 'General Anime' thread? What we're supposed to be talking about here is animated and not real at all. The fact that you all have been taking this issue way too seriously for such an extended period of time just goes to show that.......

Re: opinion
That's what I figured at first. I mean, if its one of those 'chaste' loves then sure.. I can handle that. They could/should wait till she's old enough. But in this case Hibiki seems a bit too tempted by the fruits of youth. So in her perception, he is replacing the missing parental figures, but in his eyes, she's looking attractive on a whole other level.UtenaAsnej77 wrote:actually I don't think it really matters but thats my opinion cause as long as they love eachother right I mean thats all that matters dosen't it!?
It's probably just me then, but the show went from cute to... uh... hey... what the hell is he thinking?

It's really funny how some threads get locked for the weirdest reasons, and others can go OT for pages and pages.
Anything CLAMP is pretty much guaranteed to have kid/adult relationships...some of which are pretty freaky. Isn't Shinobu from Love Hina really into Hideki at first? She's still in grade school, right?

I figured this one for the shredder a long time ago. I even mod boxed it.ryuu_hime13 wrote:It's really funny how some threads get locked for the weirdest reasons, and others can go OT for pages and pages.

Any way, I don't know about Shinobu. Maybe in the manga, but in the series Keitaro is generally just nice to her without leading her on, or seeming to return the affections.
Yeh, clamp seems to take the funk ideas of the year and turn them into hit shows. Amazing.

Re: opinion
Actually, I thought her feelings were more like love (the non-platonic/parental kind). There's that whole scene where she realizes she's "different".madbunny wrote:So in her perception, he is replacing the missing parental figures, but in his eyes, she's looking attractive on a whole other level.
I think for both of them it started as platonic affection between teacher/student or "parent"/"child" but then evolved into true love.
Another pointless post!

wait a minute... I have a heart?
As a confirmed member of "I stick my dick into most every girl I see" I must say, age doesn't really matter. Just last saturday, i went into Salt lake and had the pleasure of meeting... fuck I can't remember. Lin Su. Yeah. We hung out and within a half hour we were grooving in a public bathroom. She was Korean. nice buh-buh-boobies. I realized after the encounter, i forgot to ask her age. Two hours later, on the TRAX ride home, i ran across a girl that was obviously underage, and ridiculed her for having the temerity of approaching me. It made me feel good to make that 'I don't want to cry! I don't want to cry!' look appear in her eyes.

The moral of teh story? sleep with asian girls. You can't tell their age anyways.
