Something just seems completely wrong with the whole Cameron doing
NGE. It just doesnt stack up. I mean he's a commercially driven filmmaker
choosing a mind bending commercially sketchy project that would honestly
take a full fledged miracle to work. And I've never seen him quoted
regarding NGE at all. Why wouldnt he make a film he's actually been
quoted about and could very easily make a decent film from? It would
make alot more sense if he remade Ghost In The Shell as a live action
movie because it would actually work. And if he could get Jessica Alba
to do full frontal, it would be a commercial smash.

So I propose that we distract him from NGE by diverting his attention
to GITS. It's a dirty trick, but it'll save us jail time and the butchering of
probably the greatest anime series ever.

I did a quick google search, this is the most reliable information I have on the subject:

http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/1702.html
Director James Cameron joined the trend by telling the T-3 panel audience that he was interested in doing live action versions of Battle Angel Alita and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
So nothing close to concrete, just personal interest, breathe a sigh of relief people.

Still, we should take strong action to insure that it stays that way. ;D

I do agree that theyll proboboly screw up all the pschological and religous refrences that are plentiful throughout Evangelion. But you have to admit it would be pretty damn cool to see a live action fight scene with giant robots especially with the money James Cameron would be able to throw into it.

Yet another reason live action Eva is a bad idea. "Robots." :x
***SPOILERS***
The eva units will more than likly be dumbed down to simple robots. Even half the people I know whom have seen the series still think the evas were "robots." I'm like: "did you close you eyes durring the fight sceens :?: Are you that ignorant :?: " The Evas were anything but robots! And I just see the American cinima world destryoing this aspect.

Ummm... Pilkington is right, they are not robots. They are genetically reverse-engineered psychologically-enslaved BIOLOGICAL (i.e. living) creatures who wear protective armor that makes them appear to be robots for protction, and so that they can be controlled effectively.

Pilkington is absolutely right about the nature of the EVAs, but if that
aspect of NGE were taken away for the movie, several MAJOR plot
points would be rendered completely irrelevant, and would destroy the
entire story. For example: [spoilers below]

- If the EVAs were simply robots they would not have the souls of the
pilots' mothers in them. Basically that means that there would be
absolutely no reason whatsoever for Shinji, Rei, Asuka, or Touji to
pilot them.

- Gendo Ikari would have no reason to pursue the Instrumentality
Project.

- SEELE would become irrelevant and unecessary.

- Misato would have no reason to doubt NERV.

- Kaji would be unecessary because if the EVAs were just robots he
wouldnt have anything to investigate.

So you really can't just make them robots unless you completely twist
the story around, at which point it would become something like Macross
or Gundam Wing. ;D
