Fansubs are my primary source, 2nd source is when they decide to release another DVD in Australia.
I could get Cartoon Network, i know that now, but i would sooner casterize myself.
Between Anime, work, friends and the book i'm reading and occasionally sleep, i don't have time to waste on TV. Anime belongs on my computer.
Only time newbies annoy me is when they rip a series as a dub, i wanted to see if Samuria Bout Highschool was worth watching, so i leeched it of some bloke who ripped the dub from the DVD, all i could really do is cringe..
hrm, sacrifice newbie to arcane god.

Wow from reading your rant (at least the beginning) I was scared you were thinking that I said that and didn't read my reply. I have highlighted the reason I thought this. In any case, I DON'T feel that way...I sure hope you knew that. Whew.dwchang wrote: now thats just thinking with a closed mind for you ... not that i can think with an open one ... i probably keep missing the 3rd side of the coin ... If somone thinks that(the above quote) is the correct way of doing any thing, and for the sole reason for that thinking is becasue they belive it's better just because it's american ... well thats just sad.
In any case, it's not that surprising that people are conceited enough to say such a statement...it was Kentucky [/quote]
well ... i've always had problems with my unclear writing, no one ever knows who or what i'm writing about/to (including me on odd occasions) ... but what was that ... the second time i went on a bender and you almost thought i was trying to tear a strip out of you? Either way, i understood that it was somone else that you were talking about ... besides you don't strike me as the kind of person who would make such a half-assed comment like that.

Awesome...see, you're showing that even so-called n00bs can become proper citizens (btw I don't really believe in "proper" or whatnot, just trying to make a point that there's nothing wrong with n00bs...).Korangar wrote:Yeah, i used to be one of those people who dwchang was talking about who think english is superior a couple years ago...now i watch pretty much only subs, but i am still kind of n00bish b/c i don't have enough money...i spend it all as soon as i get it...and yea, i saw trigun b4 cn started showing it, so i think i have some right to be here.
As for the language thing, I don't think any particular language is superior to another since all of them communicate something to the people of that tongue. If they can communicate..well...that's the purpose of language.
However by the same token, I like to hear the native language that a particular movie/anime/song originated from. Please don't turn this around into me thinking the japanese language is superior (far from it). I watch german movies in german, french movies in french and so on. It all goes back to original vision (or in thise case sound) for me. Same goes for censoring and edits...they weren't in the original so I don't like them.

just out of interest, why do we call english 'english' anyway, since most people who speak it arnt english?dwchang wrote:See, you gotta first realize that I lived in KY at the time...I shit you not, people argued with me about dubs and just how English was this SUPERIOR language and that EVERYTHING should be in English. Now sub/dub argument aside, this is just ignorance and racist (to a degree).Kracus wrote:That's funny to me.dwchang wrote:C) (this sounds stupid) pride (No joke...I've met a handful of fans that tell me that English is a superior language and blah blah blah...these would be the type that buy EVERYTHING USA...like their cars, clothes, etc...there's a fine line between pride and racism.).
As for dubs, I agree. Don't get me wrong, I am VERY purist or whatever (since I like seeing things in their native and intended langauges), but as long as you're enjoying something, there's not really anything I say that matters. It's about having fun and stuff right? Live and let live I guess...
back on track, in england, there has been a sudden increase in people all saying that they watch anime, but then you find out they watched a couple of episodes of DBZ, and that s the be all and end all of anime....
for some reason this anoys..dont know why, it just does..
i have nothing against n00bs, i just feel that they should try watching anime of different genres (saw an anime totaly devoted to how to bake a cake the other day!) rather than whats being shown on tv, since the anime keeps getting butchered by CN and FOX...
I play violent computer games! I could snap at any minute!!!!

What interest would that be? When I say it should be in English I mean the Language when it's a discussion about Sub vs Dub. How much more obvious does it need to be? When I say 'speak English' I'm not talking about England, I'm talking about the language known as English. Simply because I said the work 'speak'.
If I was to learn Japanese fluently, wouldn't I still call it Japanese even though I'm not Japanese
