Though I love DB/z/GT

I do have to agree this is how all the sagas go in a series of quotes

"There are badguys comming"
"This is going to be hard"
"We had better train"
"Uff aff, we got beat up"
"We get better everytime we get the crap beat out of us"
"Haha, we are 100x stronger now, lets go beat up badguys"
"Major Char dies"
"Enemy Dies"
Repeat for desired DB effect

Goku: "You! There! In the woods!"
Frieza: "I am in the woods."
Goku: "For you I have trained seven long years, and then three additional days!"
Frieza: "I am in the woods."
Goku: "I shall defeat you now with: FIREBALL!"
Frieza: "I am in the woods."
Goku: "Never mind that, I shall use: THE PUNCH!"
Frieza: "arg, the punch."

But seriously, it's a decent show, but just way too long. Some animes are too short, like Dragon Half (two episodes), but DBZ....there's just too much of it. It gets kind of silly after a while (ever seen DBZ in a nutshell?).

dbz is a way too long anime which is expanded too much, storyline is very bad in the second half (guess that's postet above ^^)

I'm happy when I see that so much people are hating dbz. see, in germany dbz was beginning to be shown 1 year ago and now every idiot in our comicshop or at school was annoying with "DBZ rulez", "DBZ is so cool" "DBZ is the greatest anime ever, everything else below 500 episodes makes no sense" etc. It's a very annoying hype, and it won't stop that fast here.

I like what a previous replier had said, Vegeta is the Shit! Thats more than enough reason to like it.

I like DBZ cuz I like the idea of how they power up like that, Changing the hair and strengths and all, its really cool. The Goku character is based on the Chinese Folk Tale, of the "Monkey King" or "Shu Mu Houng"

Have you noticed, that DBZ is the strongest anime? What I mean is that if Goku or anyone in DBZ wanted to, they could destroy the whole world or the universe!!

The anime is not bad, if you want non stop action and brute strength, then Its a great anime.

I guess you mean you think Goku could kill anyone from any other anime by that? In a straight out match, perhaps...but, what if he where to fight, let's say, Mewtwo? Mewtwo could control his mind and make him kill himself.

Sae from the Magic User's Club could turn him into a flower! (Goku and friends have a bad habit of letting their opponent use their powerful techniques on them, rather than rush in and punch them with their super speed before they can get their attack off.)

Caine (the first Tenchi movie) can only be hurt by Jurai energy, which Goku cannot generate (whether ki works or not would be the determining factor here.)

Can Goku dent an AT field? Survive in space?......Stay dead? We can only hope.

I used to like DBZ, a few years ago. I watched it fairly frequently on CN (fairly frequently meaning every other day or so). I was never really a "fan", per se, but I enjoyed it as eye candy and nothing more. Then, it started dragging on into utter redundancy (this has already been covered earlier in the thread, so I won't go further.). I lost interest in the series completely during the second half of the Namek saga, right about the time the characters voices all mysteriously changed (That really was the straw that broke the camel's back for me, when the character's voices changed.)

I went from having absolutely no interest in DBZ to completely disliking it about the time I started watching series like Lain, Bebop, and Eva. For me, those series were so involving and wonderful, and I loved them from episode 1 (well, except for Eva, which I watched in dub first and hated. I don't know why I bought the box set when I didn't like the series that much after the first time through, but I did, and when I started watching the sub, I was hooked and have never looked back. That, incidentally, is when my slow transition from dubs to subs was finalized. I've been a preferrer of subs ever since. But that's off-topic.). I watched more DBZ on CN for comparison, and it just did not hold a candle. I found it redundant, and stupid. It disliked it more than I had ever liked it.

That's my story, I've gone from a quasi-fan to an utter hater. The show no longer holds any interest at all for me. I, very simply, find it stupid and pointless, and not dramatic or funny in the slightest.

That's my view, anyway.

good points, goes to show that two different series cannot truely be compared, only through opinions (which tend to be rather bias when talking with fanboys).

On the topic of mind control vs. Goku: how about Legato or Knives

Or how about Alucard from Hellsing? I mean you really never seen any true limit to his power, he can just regenerate...and i suppose no one can be too fast for him since he can just disappear heh

There really is NO way to know what would do what when comparing two completely different series, you could also argue Gene's caster to be enough to down someone from DBZ

The original outcome of DBZ was that Goku was supposed to die when Namek went all out. The End. Since he was already wished back once, he couldn't have been brought back.

But then that left a hell lot of plot holes

Ah, Legato, of course.... How could I have forgoten him?

What about Bugs Bunny? Not really a fighter, but he has that magical "cartoon legend aura" that makes him indestructable and his opponent stupid. Goku uses a full powered SSJ3 blast, and then finds out Bugs was standing behind him the whole time.

I wonder how he would fare against magic. Could he protect himself, or would the magic bypass his defences altogether? Maybe Dark Schneider could take him, he's got a fair few tricks up his sleeve, plus his legendary immortality. Though this one isn't a sure thing.

Hinako-sensei could drain all his ki, assuming she could hold it all or sifen it out somewhere.

Of course my girlfriend maintains that Vash, Spike and/or D could beat him because she has a crush on them and thinks Goku sucks...not very realistic I suppose, but still...

This is fun, who else could maybe beat him?

Um...
forgotten, not forgoten
indestructible, not indestructable
defenses, not defences
siphon, not sifon
