I would imagine the movie would basically just be a shortened form of the series (ala Macross: Do You Remember Love?, Escaflowne Movie, X/1999, Utena Movie, and many more). I couldn't really see them doing anything like a sequel or anything like that. And since Eva isnt really very episodic (meaning, the episodes dont really stand-alone. meaning, you'd usually need to have seen the previous episode to know whats going on in this one. this isnt ENTIRELY the case in some of the middle episodes, but you still would have needed to see like the first 8 eps to know what the premise behind everything is), it'd be hard to a movie like a 2-hour episode, like the Bebop movie, which worked because Bebop is pretty episodic, and the premise is simple enough, and the characters easily identifiable enough, that to the casual moviegoer, its not so confusing. Not the case with Eva.

What a strange idea, I don't know how they can fit so much into a live action, unless it is going to be twenty six live action episodes
I can't hate ADV for this, as they brought me Noir, but I will say this goes on the list of bad ideas along with Disney's idea of re-releasing movies very other year.

Totally Agree, no way any girl will be able to have Misato or Asuka, or Rei's hiar and still look realLyrs wrote:I just hope the hair du's are good and the acting is good and the story is good and the casting is good and the music is good and the people that makes the movie know what fans have to say about the idea.

I think it would be easy to get the look of Asuka's hair. It is one of the few "natural looking" hair styles in Eva.RedFusionX wrote:Totally Agree, no way any girl will be able to have Misato or Asuka, or Rei's hiar and still look realLyrs wrote:I just hope the hair du's are good and the acting is good and the story is good and the casting is good and the music is good and the people that makes the movie know what fans have to say about the idea.

I'm just too skeptical about this. Making a movie and having us watch it is one thing.
But in the long run, I highly doubt such a movie would really pay off if it sucked. And my bets so far - it very well could. Man... don't they have any better ideas for a new movie?
And another point - I'm also afraid this is not gonna get the treatment it deserves even if it does go ahead. Realistically, I still doubt this movie would get the budget it deserves (because I think it has a bit of a narrow appeal) - consequently, we could end up with bad casting, poor special effects, in short - a potental medium-to-low budget movie, which in case you're trying to make something with a lot of fighting mecha could spell disaster.
I'd much, much rather see them put the money into something more valuable. Eva, FLCL, and many other great Gainax projects certainly cost much less than a live action production, while maintaining a great level of financial success and critical acclaim. I'd say ADV should take their money, give it to Gainax, let Gainax make new anime (be it more Eva or whatnot) and then watch it sell here in North America. Eva sells good enough as is. Why screw it up?

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

God, those stupid bastages...
I just think making more anime would be much less of a gamble, with less to lose. I really don't think a live action movie will get them many new Eva fans. At the same time, it's probably gonna piss off a good portion of the core crowd, the now-fans.
I don't mind them doing a financial gamble. As long as they don't gamble away the proud names that are Eva and Gainax.
