Back to the original topic (sorta), I really liked Akira when I first saw it. It was one of my first real anime titles. Many years later I can still enjoy it on DVD while I find that most people bash it. Why is that? Do those who dislike Akira have a problem with the animation, or the story, or the characters or.... or what?
its far from what the manga was

About Evangelion and Akira.

Akira was one of the first animes I ever saw, and I can't say that I liked it very much due to the scenes of violence that, what I thought, had no part in the movie just being random acts of sickness. Well that was in that time when I couldn't grasp what's 'inbetween' the talk. Later on movies like Ninja Scroll, Ninja Resurrection and other bloody animes have made me blunt to violence I suppose. But still when I watch Akira, I come back to those old feelings which hinders me from seeing what Akira really wants to tell people.

Anyways..
I just saw Neon genesis Evangelion, finished it all yesterday as a matter of fact, and to my surprise there wasn't any random acts of blood, sinew, brainsplatts, breasts, rapes, roadkills etc scenes. I actually appreciated this much more, and I got to understand the movie better then I know I had otherwise. You -do- have to watch the whole series and the movie 'The End of Evangelion' to understand it to it's fullest extent.. More money for the makers, but I guess any series would be alltogether worthless if the conclusion of the movies came in the middle and lame silence came afterwards.

Anywho, if anyone of you bothered reading through all of this, I just want to say that Subtitles are always better then Dubbs.
Now I'm thinking I'll go again.
