I certainly won't say Akio is the COOLEST of evil villain's . . . but I WILL say . . . he IS the baddest of the bad. EVIL. Evil evil evil evil evil evil evil evil evil evil evil evil evil EVIL!! He could make Sephiroth his bitch. The man is a manipulative KING. The only person he probably couldn't manipulate is Hannibal Lector . . . but he would TRY.

Britt: The worst! I was aiming at the horse.

Jinsaku Ajo from Key the Metal Idol makes Gendo Ikari look like a saint. His body count is much lower, but Ajo's psychotic personality makes him horrific. Gihren Zabi is more tolerable -- and this is the guy who looked to Adolf Hitler for inspiration!!Otohiko wrote:Gendo from Eva would be my next pick. Frankly, he's really the only anime character whose behaviour REALLY creeped me out.
And NO, I DO NOT consider Ajo to be a "cool villian."
HELP!! I'm being held prisoner by CLAMP fans!! We Demand -- er, They Demand -- uh, OH, FORGET IT!! It's Fun Here!!

Oh, how could I forget this: not 'cool', but the best villain I know of is none other than Souma Akito, from Fruits Basket. He is cruel and spiteful, and his cruelty is... well, I find it hard to describe, and the way in which they portrayed him was masterful in my opinion. The voice actor in particualy did a fantastic job- it literally sends shivers down my spine whenever he turns up.

Evil is as evil does? Carmilla - VHD:Bloodlust.... I mean, even the omni-evil vampire king Dracula decided she was too over the top. I dare you to find one ounce of non-evil in that undead woman!
Evil is as evil dresses? Depends on one's fashion sense. Edea always was spiffy, in her evil-witch personification at least

Adding votes for Jinnai and Gihren, as well as putting in suggestions for:
Basque Ohm - Mobile Suit Z Gundam - OK...maybe I wouldn't say 'cool' but in terms of evil, he's got it down cold. The man endangers civilian lives without so much as a second thought, gasses colonies without hesitation, feels no shame about using a child's parents against them, and to top it off, willingly gives orders to fire upon a colony, and then laugh about it. In almost every regard, he seems to be Gihren's reincarnation (except this time going after spacenoids.)
Shagia and Olba Frost - Gundam X - OK...I'll concede I'd consider them kind of cool, but at the same time I'd also mark them as the spawn of Satan. Like Basque, these are the kinds of guys that don't care who they have to eliminate to complete their goals. Unlike Basque, however, their interest isn't in power (not directly anyways), it's in getting the universe to acknowledge their existence, by any means necessary.
and
The Invaders - Shin Getter Robo - Picture the creature from John Carpenter's version of The Thing...now picture it with less of a need to hide and a far more aggressive streak and you have the Invaders in a nutshell...
