i had trouble figuring out if he was a boy or gurl the first time i heard him talk...gawd, he had an annoying voice (in the dub anywayz, not sure about the sub)MAS PRODUCTIONS wrote:By and large Freeza was the best villian in DBZ. Personally I consider him one of the only villians and not just "another bad guy". He had goals and ambitions of his own and he would stop at nothing to accomplish them. This was something that no other bad guy really accomplished afterwards, they were either following some set orders or just liked killing. But then again I define a true villian otherwise, must be because I was raised on comic books.

Mamimi:What? But he's a real good boy. He'd never even mention having seen my panties!
Haruko:THEN HE'S GAY!!!

Minority vote (once again): Gihren Zabi...the man prettymuch kills for fun, has no objection with turning his little brother's funeral into a propaganda push, murders his father when the man attempts to put an end to the One Year War, and overall, just a nasty guy
(How can you argue someone who, not joking, said "Don't worry father...you're son, the next Adolph Hitler, knows what he's doing...whether or not you like my methods, in the end, you'll see I'm right...")
and to top it off, he doesn't even have any fancy abilities...he's just as human (well...in the genetic sense anyways) as anyone else

Folken was pretty evil too now that I think aobut it, He's got my vote if I had to choose between the two.merquise13 wrote:Okay me and my friend have narrowed it down. Who is more evil between Saitoh from kenshin or Folken from Escaflowne the MOVIE?
So in other words, one part of the community is waging war on another part of the community because they take their community seriously enough to want to do so. Then they tell the powerless side to get over the loss cause it's just an online community. I'm glad people make so much sense." -- Tab

HA I'M ahead again. And both of us think you could say saitoh is an evil villian even though he's on kenshins side for part of the series. you also have to remember he said he'd kill kenshin if needed. that and he's also evil in samurai x
Death justifies the means..............kill DBZ and the problem will be solved!!

Between these two? No No No.merquise13 wrote:Okay me and my friend have narrowed it down. Who is more evil between Saitoh from kenshin or Folken from Escaflowne the MOVIE?
Hear me out.
Saitoh is a pretty badass character, and its not exactly like his hands are clean, but to me he always seemed like a guy "on the other side," not an evil, scheming megavillain. A great villain. A good "evil" villain maybe.
Folken? Excuse Me? In the series he fights for what he sees as right, to end the human desire for wars and killing. Folken is a great character, especially since at first we think he is a villain. But his wisdom and patience shows him to be a formidable sage, who has the rare quality of admitting when he is wrong and is capable of switching sides (at least in the series). You know what an anti-hero is? Its a bad guy that fights for good. Folken is an Anti-villain. He's a good guy that happens to fight for "evil." Anti-villains are my favorite types of characters, because they are so rare and possess so much depth. You enjoy seeing the protaganist fight them because you actually respect the anti-villain. Another good example of an anti-villain is Kikyo from Inuyasha (although she is more complex than this). My answer for best villain is actually voice acted by the same guy, so I'll say you were right in some regard
Ok as I see it there are 5 levels of villains (1=least evil, 5=most evil):
1.) Soft or Inconvenient "Everyday" villains: These are everyday villains. Your asshole boss at work, your unfair professor, your unfriendly rival. Examples of this would inlude Ryoga Habiki (Ranma 1/2), the principal from GTO, the Kuno's (including the principal, Ranma 1/2), Happosai (Ranma 1/2), etc.
2.) Sub villains: A villian which is subservient to a higher ranked villain but may still be an evil bastard in their own right. Dylandau is the best of this crop.
3.) Rival Villains: These are villains which enjoy fighting their rival (the hero) and enjoy bloodshed. These are essentially warrior villains. This crop inludes Saitoh from Kenshin, Vincent from Cowboy Bebop the movie, and Folken/Dylandau from Escamovie. Folken from the TV series wouldnt fit here.
4.) Insane, destruction obsessed sickos: These are villains that kill and do evil for next to no reason. In some cases there is some kind of reward for the killing (i.e. more power) but often times the killing, evil deeds are done simply for personal satisfaction. Most of the most popular villains fall in this group, Sephiroth, Freeza, Vicious, etc. Villains this evil must be stopped, not because of justice or revenge, but because the survival of the protagonist, and maybe even the world rests on it.
Some of you consider this the pinnacle of evilness, but consider the 5th type:
5.) Pure F*cking Evil: For this villain indescriminant death and pain is not enough. The element that sets this villain apart is his/her tendency to make things personal, very personal. Many Destruction obsessed sickos are completely indifferent to their victims. These villains go out of their way to add suffering to the lives of their victims, and easily hold bitter grudges. In many cases, death would be far more merciful. Villains of this type include Knives (trigun), Legato (trigun), and Naraku (Inuyasha).
So unless I magically remember another villain who fits this 5th category, the "Most Evil" villain will fall between these 3 candidates.
Legato. The very definition of Pure F*cking Evil. He fights only by bringing living torment to Vash. Still, I can't pick this guy, because he is horribly underdeveloped and comes across as cardboard character who shows no depth. All we know about him is that he is a bad guy who works for knives, thats it. Some serious character development would have made this char a more serious contender.
Knives. By using Legato, as well as *cough cough*, ahem, a person close to vash, as well as exterminating entire towns just to get to his brother mentally, Knives also ends up as a great final nominee for best/most evil villain. However, I cant give it to him BECAUSE I ACTUALLY AGREED WITH HIS mentality. Isnt the "THEM NOT US" strategy exactly what Bush is doing with our troops around the world? Knives had a disregard for human life, yes, but he was fighting for the liberation of his kind, a race that humans had been using as slaves. He also showed affection for his brother Vash, and was hurt by Vash's opposition.
(light spoilers ahead)
Naraku. Naraku literally means hell in Japanese. He Began his life as a simple thief, named onigumo, and after being seriously injured after a fall from a cliff, he lost his ability to move. Helpless and petty, he became infatuated with his caretaker, the beautiful preistess Kikyo. During the time that Kikyo took care of him, he noticed she was carrying a powerful jewel, with incredible potential for evil power (as well as good). Knowing he was helpless to woo her in his current state, and lusting after the power of the Shikon jewel, he called demons to him to devour his soul. What became of the thief was a being that was no longer a human and not a demon either. It was an entirely new being with some "fragments" of his creator, such as his interest in Kikyo. With his newfound powers, he found that Kikyo was in a forbidden (mutual) love with a half demon (Inuyasha), whom she should have destroyed, as she was a demon slayer of sorts. He then wove an incredible deception on the two, causing them to essentially kill each other. He did this not only for personal reasons, but also because it "tainted" the jewel with malice, which he saw as beautiful. Naraku would encounter others, such as Miroku's grandfather, and instead of killing him he let him survive with a curse that would damn him and his entire line of decendents to an eventual violent implosion death. When encountering those with the jewel, he would not simply always kill them but would create situations around them (again with deceit) which would bring incredible anguish into their lives. In some cases the victim dies too fast and naraku brings them back for more. In one case he kills an entire female warrior's family before her eyes, forces her to fight her younger brother to the death, the boy dies, then she dies. He then raises them both back from the dead to do his bidding, or to decieve them into doing his bidding. Kikyo, the priestess whom he was infatuated with as a human and "killed" later, is eventually revived, walking the earth as a hate filled, tormented spirit to see her old lover (Inuyasha) (whom she still loves) and also to kill him (because if she lets go of the hate she will dissapear). Do I need to say anymore? This guy is Pure F*cking Evil, Period. He is a sly coward who never puts himself in danger, fighting with clones and replicas, and those he decieved into doing his bidding. He eventually becomes quite physically formidable, but he never stops relying on his truest talent, deception. A quality of Satan if there ever was one. Most importantly he functions off of pain and suffering, not just death and destruction. Also notice the character development. Inuyasha is a very long series running over 130 episodes now, and they developed Naraku this much after less than 30 episodes.
Naraku is pure evil, but hes still one of my favorite characters in the show. Hes interesting and unique.
