What I said previously, is pretty damn self-evident. Just check out half the threads here, they all show peoples affection with anime characters, and how they wish they 'knew the character' or 'had his powers' or whatever....

I guess some people just delude themselves, dunno why, pretty obvious to me why people like anime.

That isn't the only reason people watch anime, bud. If you think that then you aren't very perceptive. Undoubtedly it's a huge attraction, a major factor in my love of anime, maybe the largest even, but if that's *all* anime had going for it, it would be far from one of my main hobbies. There's much more to it than that, anime is like literature, but with far more potential, being animated, acted, and with music.

Dude, ofcourse theres MORE to anime than what I said. But I meant its a major factor, its what gets many people into anime and what keeps them hooked.

Its the essence of anime ---> escapism <---

Okay, I'll agree with that, since it's true, but as long as you acknowledge there's more to it, fantasy in general is about escape.

There are barely any "normal" anime girls, they are all SUPER DUPER SPUNKY, and with their overblown attitude comes overblown physical features. They all look 'perfect' in a way.
Same applys to the guys, they are either SUPER SPUNKY or SUPER MYSTERIOUS both traits guys try to relate to, and with these amazing attitudes come amazing physical features.

Actually I would say most main anime characters follow the path of a romanticisim, often not asking for any responsibility at all in the beginning, but then growing to meet it later on.

hmmm...then not be obviously. For the record, the reason why im obssessed bout Faye Valentine to be an idiot. Sure she's attarctive but AS A CARTOON.

and you knwo what those threads you mentioned are just fun threads and not "serious" threads. I can care less bout bieng an anime character.

Like I said, im attracted to the plot line and the character designs but a more major factor is the art style. I will not I repeat will not watch any stupid girly looking stuff say like Saber Moon or Digimon. Heck, Yu Yu is pretty boarderline for me. I prefer the art style of kenshin (which the art style is also boardline at times) and same iwth Trigun, cowboy Bebop, and Hellsing.

but like i was saying, girls with huge boobs or really hot looking or spunky girl character is not what drives people to watch anime. There are some who do but i know the majority of my friends who watch anime don't watch it only if thiers a super hot model anime girl in it.

Just nod your head and admit you are obsessed with Faye Valentine because she is TEH HOT not because she has some obscure personal traits that make her unique and what not.

Lovely analogy. Maybe the thread hasn't been killed yet.

[If this is what happens when people make a good thread to actually discuss anime, then it's no wonder others stick to the 'what anime character would - ' threads. It's not as painful to see a certain person kill those. Watching it happen in one of the few rational threads is just sad.]
