First, its Van Helsing.

Second, Van Helsing was the man responsible for killing Dracula. The anime Hellsing is somewhat based off the story of Dracula. Intrega Hellsing's ancestor is suppose to be Van Helsing. In short, Van Helsing has nothing to do with the anime Hellsing. Also this topic has been over done. A simple search would have resulted in the other topic which had more info.

Apparently there is an animated prequel to the movie. I found it going through Greencine.

Didn't somebody say once before that Van Helsing was the surname of a character in Bram Stoker's <i>Dracula</i>, and that that's from where both Hellsing the series and <i>Van Helsing</i> the movie get their names?

YES, Van Helsing is a character from Dracula! How do you people manage to get anime at those rocks you live under?

Actually sarah metropolis is an original story because it has little to do with the manga and even less to do with fritz langs movie. Basically they took the look of the city from Fritz and the character designs from Tezuka other than that its completley original. Metropolis is in my oppionion the number one anime movie of all time.
