My area rental stores are a lost cause. The Blockbuster is one of those pathetically small and restricted ones that can't even stock enough popular movies to adhere to the "we'll have it or its free" policy... amusingly, their selection of game rentals takes up almost a quarter of their shelf-space. Good times for me.
My university video store (for some reason) got rid of all of their anime titles, which I can only blame on the increased availability of anime to the general consumer and the Internet as a source for dling fansubs etc.
Another, non-chain rental store that, about five to six years ago had a decent anime selection (although their choice of titles is really skewed towards adolescant males seeking fanservice) has yet to catch up with the 21st century and upgrade all of this to DVD. Figures, I have two DVD players, a PS2 and a DVD drive in my computer, but no VCR. yeesh
Anime rentals also can be acquired at Greencine. Both this provider and Netflix were not worth the price, though, IMO. I had huge problems getting my DVDs and so-called quick shipping dates generally took 2-3 weeks, assuming I got my movies at all (3/5 never arrived).

AMV Progress:
"D-Me" (default title until something cooler occurs to me) - uh... this one's still in the "I wanna make it" stage, but did get to 5% at one point.

Rogers Video store always had a decent selection. Though they never ordered a lot of new titiles, but I got hooked to quite a few things by renting through them. Never had an issue with ratings.
The only funny rating stuff I ever notice is in Chapters when I'm buying manga. But I could hardly complain, I mean out of the 10 titles they were selling under the '20% off Kid's graphic Novels' 6 of them were rated older teen. Heh heh, I can just imagine the poor kid bringing home his sponge bob book and Hot Gimmick...
