I don't think that the colors of the Gundams really matter at all; they seem to serve as indicators as to whether or not the Gundam is currently using its' phase-shift. They could have had the Gundams be bright colors all the time, but that would have been rather confusing during later episodes when the phase-shift deactivates due to lack of power.
As far as the story goes, it seems to be a decent show up to where I have watched (episode 16), aside from a few characters whose personalities are less than admirable.

The website I mentioned had a lot of great info...I have to go back and read up on it again.

Episode 2 was good! Is it just me, or is this Gundam a little more cartoon-ish than the others have been?

A thing I found funny in the last episode was that the main kid (argh, I can't keep track of their wacky-ass names) blew a hole in the colony the size of Virginia, and then after the enemy falls back they all have a meet-n-greet at the "White Base" ship. Did I miss something or shouldn't depressurization be more important? No more regard was made towards this hole and then later the enemy strikes back by blowing their own hole in the colony. That's two holes. I guess the animators didn't care about continuity or we weren't told about the giant cork-stoppers.
I also hate the swords. The old laser swords seems so much more logical for battling versus metal-on-metal bashing of traditional swords. The swords did appear to have "Heat Hawk" like blades to them though with the striking surface lit up.
More complaints to come, unless something comes up to differentiate Seed from the original series.

All of their names are really messed up. I'm expecting something like this:
"Mulanflaga!!"
"What'd you just call my mama?!"
*battle ensues*

I wondered about this myself...it was pretty weird. They were still evacuating colonists, meaning that there were still people on the colony. There didn't seem to be too much concern about what was happening to THEM, though they did say "We can't damage the colony!" about...oh...twice. If you ask me, that's not enough concern for what's going on.

I know for a fact that the series gets a little more Gundam-like in terms of storyline later on, but the animation keeps getting to me. It looks like something you'd see on Kid's WB.

It's the damn coloring. It's all bright and shiny looking to me. That and the character designs. I'm waiting for some kid with a deck of cards to jump out and challenge a Gundam.
Cartoon Network really messed up the lineup. I liked it the way it was before the recent change. I love Aqua Teen Hunger Force, but it's eating up a weekly time slot that should be taken up by anime. So, during the week you lose a 30min slot to that and then you get to watch more repeats and a millionth showing of Cowboy Bebop.

I actually like the new lineup...I can stay up late Saturday nights to watch anime. I was doing it during the week when they were showing WHR, but it probably isn't a good idea...I get up too freaking early to be up till 1 in the morning every day of the week to watch anime. I can't tape it either, cuz my stupid VCR doesn't have a timer. Besides, I like watching Aqua Teen Hunger Force during the week! It's hilarious.

Yugioh/Gundam crossover...that'd be pretty damn funny. Pathetic, but good for a laugh.

Gundam Pilot (inside his Gundam): I'm the toughest guy in town. No one can beat me.
Snot Nosed Kid: (comes from out of nowhere) I'll challenge you!
G.P.: Alright kid, you're on!
S.N.K.: (takes out a deck of monster cards and starts shuffling them).
G.P.: :?
S.N.K.: (throws down a card) I play Fierce Monster in attack mode! GO FIERCE MONST...(gets stepped on by Gundam).
G.P.: NEXT!
Probably too busy to be here right now.
