As for my stupid, narrowminded (I'm going to assume thats what you meant to say. I hope you know you wrote mined instead of minded. What am I, a mine-worker working in a narrow mine or something? Just to let you know, when you're attacking someone, you don't want to give them anything to fight back with- even spelling or grammatical mistakes. It may be childish to use spelling against someone, but it still makes them look stupid, and I don't care, so I use it anyway. I don't spell everything right all the time, but its just a piece of advice, especially when you are trying to act mad. Spelling something wrong takes the anger out of your words and replaces it with humor. I doubt thats what you were going for. I also doubt you meant to write narrowmined. So, I will assume you meant narrowminded, but if I'm wrong, please inform me and I will try to respond accordingly) and offensive comment (oh you spelled that wrong, too), you can attribute it to the fact that I'm just joking around with Coolman. I will agree that a person's comprehension of something won't be affected by their sexual preferences. However, I didn't say anything about his comprehension of the show, I discussed his dislike of it. Someone's sexual preference will definitely affect their like or dislike of something. If you are gay, you apparently are thinking differently from someone who is straight. When people think differently, they like different things. Do you understand?

Also, I guess I gave the people on this forum (or at least two of them) too much credit. I thought they were smarter than they have shown themselves to be. The way I wrote made it pretty obvious that I know Coolman, I guess it was just not obvious enough to some people. I even started talking about him cutting a Kleenex box while watching it. How do you expect me to know that if I don't know the dumb bitch? So I'm sorry for thinking that you were at least marginally smart and for thinking you could put things together on your own. I will try in the future to spell everything out as clear as possible and make it so that even you can understand.

Oh, and don't start talking to me about something being construed as a personal attack. People can construe things to mean almost anything they want. I could take your post as derogatory to me. and also, something ive learned from previosly being an asshole to people on this forum is that people will start hating you, and in a small comunity such as this, having a small amount of people that hate you can hurt you alot.

Lain was awesome, right up until they stuck aliens, Area 51, and other such things into the series. At that point, it seemed they ran out of ideas, and just started doing stuff so that they could finish the series. If they'd stuck with what they had going and simply wrapped it up with a decent ending that took care of most of the loose ends, then the series could a been a marvel of work. But they stuck aliens and stuff in there for some reason.

Why in the nine Hells did they stick aliens into the series!?

I think the following two quotes from Ueda Yasuyuki, the producer of Serial Experiments Lain, are very interesting. The provide an insight into the backstory (and also into one of hte reasons why some people find it so hard to understand). These quotes were taken from an interview published in the October 1999 issue of Animerica and are in response to two questions: "What do you think American viewers will think of lain?" and, "Is there a message to the show?"

"(American viewers) won't understand this. I don't want them to understand this. This work is based on the sensitivity and values of the Japanese people. America is different from Japan. The work itself is sort of cultural war against American culture and the American sense of values we adopted after WWII. So I want American people to react to this work."
