I know exactly how you feel. I don't really like telling people my interests either. Sometimes I wonder it I'm the only one who programs games in DirectX here. If there are, they don't speak up.CyberSilver wrote:Yes. I'm highly embaressed for several reasons.

B: I already have to stay up all hours of the night to watch it, and it has gotten me restricted on many things for long periods of time... luckily I was able to hide WHAT I was watching... my mother just wouldn't understand.
C: Many people would call me a geek and a perv. Well... I am a geek... but perv is crossing the line.
D: I rarly tell any one of my intrests any how and Anime is no exeption.
Does Anime embarass you?

Visual Basic.NET? Cool. I forgot to mention this a long time ago, DirectX is NOT a programming languages. It's an API (Application Programming Interface). OpenGL is an API too. This means DirectX can be used in VB.NET too. When I was in High School, I learned the basics of VB6, and C++. Better yet, I'll list all the programming languages I know/learning starting with my favorite:
1. C
2. x86 asm
3. NES ASM
4. GBA ASM
5. N64 ASM
6. C++
7. VisualBasic6
8. HTML
9. DarkBASIC
10. Playstation C++
11. XBOX ASM
APIs:
1.DirectX (PC and XBOX)
2.OpenGL
3.Glut32(OpenGL Utility ToolKit)
4.Glide2
5.Glide3
6.SVGAlib
7.Win32
Anything can be programmed for on a PC. From NES to XBOX. Each game system has it's own Assembly (ASM) language. You can download different assemblers for different game systems. The only problem is that any ASM language is not easy to learn. Usually you have to have some experience with C or C++ first. VB.NET is a good start. Try learning C, it's fun. The better you get, the more you can do (from games to whole new operating systems). An inexperienced programmer shouldn't attempt to learn ASM right away. If you ever do learn any ASM language for a game system, you can make ROM images for that game system, play them on an emulator, or get some eproms and a cartrige and play 'em on the actual console. But for game systems that require the use of CDs, you have to MOD it first. But usually, you have to have a tool that can make ISO images for that system, then burn it to a CD, then play it.
To make things sound a little easier, you can program games for other systems using C (C++ sometimes, but I reccomend C). Probably the easiest game systems to program for are XBOX and GameCube (PS1 and 2 are hard). Of course for XBOX, you have to learn DirectX first. DirectX is a little frusterating, but it can be done. Another thing, in order to program XBOX games, you got to have MSVC++6 or higher, the DirectX8 SDK, and the XBOX XDK. If you're interested, I'll give you some links right now:
k2pts.home.comcast.net/gbaguy/
www.x-b-o-x.net
www.xbdev.net
www.xfactordev.net
www.buginthemachine.co.uk
you can download the DirectX8 SDK from www.microsoft.com . And if you need anything else like the XDK, go to www.emule-project.net, download and install emule and download anything from movies to bootleg PS2 games! All this typing is making my fingers hurt.

i dont kno about d/l ne apps to make roms at this moment in time, i am pretty new to it and im just making windows apps at the moment... but hell yeah i salute ya m8 for making games programming isnt an easy thing to learn

Sorry about that CyberSilver, I completely forgot about that, i'm used to being in a forum where you can say whatever you want. You may not have noticed but when I first got here I almost got kicked out of here and got some flames.CyberSilver wrote:I don't think you are allowed to link to bootlegs of any kind... or places that have links to boot legs. kinda ILEAGAL! Hahah....embarassed no...could I potentially scar someone for life with it? Possibly >.>

This is interesting actually, my parents have ceased teasing me about it, they recognize it as something I like and won't be giving up in the near future....(my father seems to think I'll actually be selling my collection at some point...and how I laugh HAHA....)
But interestingly enough, my mother actually defended me the other day...she and this other person were discussing the 'rules' associated with money etc. (Basically some debate about monitoring teenage spending habits etc etc) Needless to say, I dropped my most recent spending amount to her ( ) and she turned to my mother and asked how she could let me spend (my money that I work for) so 'carelessly'....
My mom turned to her and said, she'd rather have me buying anime, than drugs or alcohol....shut the woman right up 8)
Besides, anime/manga are quite obviously my drug of choice
