Is the art "better," or is it just preferable because you're more used to it? I mean, I like the series art better too, but the OAVs are prettier, although the animation feels off.

Oh--and since when is all anime porn? *looks at weird screencaps thread* Oh wait...
I never cared for paticularly dark anime.

95 episodes of Rurouni Kenshin and there is a bloodless version of that

Samurai X movies are as follows:

Trust
Betrayal
Requiem for Patriots
Reflections

Should have saw this earlier

I'm not sure positively how they run in order but this is how I believe it goes

Samurai X: Trust
Samurai X: Betrayal
Rurouni Kenshin TV series
Samurai X: Requiem for Patriots
Samurai X: Reflections
trust betrayal and reflections are ova episodes not movies and call them kenshin because samurai x just sounds.... errrr... american....
For Japanese names of Samurai X are as follows:
Rurouni Kenshin: Requiem for the Ishin Patriots
Rurouni Kenshin TV series
Rurouni Kenshin OVA: Tsuiokuhen (not really that original as it pretty much took stuff from Jinchuu Arc and put into OVA format)
Rurouni Kenshin OVA: Seisouhen (Crappy translation of 15+ episodes of the revenge arc into 2 OVAs 1 of which has nothing to do with the Jinchuu Arc)

Uhh... "rurouni" is a word Nobuhiro Watsuki made up... it doesn't directly translate to anything.

If you would think of what I was saying for a secound, you might understand that I ment Rurouni is an offshoot of another word sorta like.

Since My post about "Samurai X being american" involved some of the themes you used in your post I assumed that it was partially related to my said post.

Attitude, lots.

Ok, you have:
OVA: Samurai X: Trust (aka: TsuiokuHen)
OVA: Samurai X: Betrayal (aka: TsuiokuHen)
OVA: Samurai X: Reflections (aka: SeisouHen)
Movie: Samurai X: The Movie (aka: Requiem for Patriots and Ishin Shishi e no Requiem)
TV: Rurouni Kenshin

Trust and Betrayal are the story of Kenshin during the Meiji revolution and tells his story of being a man slayer. The TV show is 10 years later when he is a wanderer. The Movie is just kinda like a long episode, no plot changing. Reflections is an awful and cheap attempt to try and close out the series b/c fans were angery with the way that the TV show ended. It goes into an arc that's in the manga put the TV show doesn't cover and then tries to end the series, but it's completely wrong and not the real ending so don't believe it or go by it. I would suggest not even watching it.

As far as time order it's Trust, Betrayal, TV show(movie somewhere near the end), Reflections
As far as the way you SHOULD watch it: TV show up to episode 62, Trust, Betrayal, finish the TV show, Movie(i guess), then Reflections(if you want to watch that awful thing.)

The reason some of it is Samurai X and some is Rurouni Kenshin is b/c when the saga of Rurouni Kenshin was brought over, there was a problem with the rights when two seperate companies tried to dub different parts of it. The series' rights were owned by Media Blasters. The OAVs and the motion picture, however, were brought over by ADV. Because of legal matters, ADV had to find themselves a new name and settled for Samurai X, naming it after Kenshin's obvious scar. It is not different, as they're all part of the same "saga" and are all part of the story.

Rurouni is a combination of two words. Ronin(might not be spelled right) which is a masterless samurai and another word(can't remember what it is) but it means wanderer. It's not an actual word, but it's a combination of the two characters in Japan.
