Why some people dislike Anime?

Exactly. I feel the same way. That's why being an anime fan isn't something I'll mention to most casual acquaintances, because the stereotype is just so strong. But, unfortunately, that stereotype wouldn't exist if there weren't so many fans that do personify it. Well, no use waxing philosophical over it, since it's not likely to change, but it's an interesting subject nonetheless.

This is probably the stupidest reason I've ever heard, the only one I've ever really heard:
One night I asked my dad to watch Cowboy Bebop with me and he said no. When I asked why he said It's not his type of show. (This coming from a guy who watches Startrek

. My dad likes anything action or fantasy. Cowboy Bebop is like both put together) So, I asked him what the real reason was and he said that he heard on the radio that there was a question thingy and the majority of the people said they think Japanese anime is better than american. So he was saying that he doesn't agree with that. So just because he doesn't think the animation is better than American, he hates it. I've also asked him that if he'd never heard that if he would watch it with me and he told me probably.

or it will not be accepted in the community.

. there is a reasonning - everything should Start and End within that Episode
or it is too poorly written to be Entertaining.

I've asked many people why they don´t like anime and the answer is always the same: because it's for kids!!! When they think about anime, the first thing that comes to their minds are: Pokemon, Digimon, etc and that's really bad because there is so much more anime in the world (good anime), but they won´t give it a try just because it's for kids.
My parents are always asking me: Why do you see that? That's not good, you don't learn anything from it... and that's really annoying!!! They are always saying that i'm too old to see that think of show... (I'm 21).
In the end, for people who doesn't like anime, anime is just a show to kill your time because it sucks, only kids can see anime and you don't learn anything from it!!!

Hey people will like what they like and dislike what they dislike. You cna't really control that. I can't count how many times I was talking wanime with friends of mine, then some person over-hears and starts doing some mockery of Pokemon/Digimon/Yu-Gi-Oh, etc. Just earlier today in school I was talking with my friend in video produciton technology class and some guy crumpled up a piece of paper and threw it like a Pokeball.

Many people see all animation as kids stuff, or are disgusted by the fact that it isn't for kids. Some just see it as geeky. One of my firends won't mention anything anime-realted during classes with a girl he likes becuase he's afraid sh'll think it's geeky.

But hey, so long as you like anime and you know others who like it, who cares about thoes who don't like anime.

Here's a prime example of ppl thinkin animation's for kids:

In my hometown we have a Hollywood Video. like i came in there a while ago and found Ninja Scroll in the children/family section. i told them what it's about and then had to explain to them the purpose of the "Special interest" section because Hollywood video DOES NOT have an anime section. After that i went in to return my video and found Happy Tree Friends in there as well. if you don't know, Happy Tree Friends is a horribly violent and bloody mockery of the Care Bears. people need to learn about this shtuuf, or at least read the back of the tape/DVD

if they put Happy Tree Freinds in the kids section I feel really sorry for whatever poor kid rents that up and gets traumatized for life.
