uhhh....huh? I don't know...what kind of anime do you like? What's your favorite series? We need something to go on...

I, personally, LOVED Full Metal Alchemist ... but uh, that'll require some illegal downloading, or some patience for the DVDs to be released ^_^

I can't wait :D

Some other series I've really really liked, although they're not really NEW...well, last month new o.O

Now and Then, Here or There

Great show, only 13 episodes long.

If you want something kinda slow moving, not a lot of action, but really great character development, and a very interesting (and for some reason, felt realistic) story, try PlanetES

It's sort of a sci-fi space drama romance political kinda deal

Uhh...I can't think of any more at the moment

Its hard to say this but i dont know if this were to happen to anyone else. Anime has gotton rather boring, or i have just been away from it for a long time and just need to see some really cool anime to get me to like it again. I been away from it all in a long time due to my career in life, so i want to know this.
To me, this sounds like a good thing. You have a career...a bigger purpose. If you can't find interest in anime anymore, and you have a career, I say let it go.

Of course, I can understand how you feel, because this is exactly what happened to me with videogames. I used to be a game fanatic, always getting new ones, staying up playing them all night till I'd beaten them...now, I can't find any games to get into at all...and even my old ones...videogames just seem boring to me now...but I wish they didn't. I miss that fun, enjoyable experience they used to provide...I think that may be why you're concerned with losing interest in anime, because you remember how much you once enjoyed it and you don't wanna completely lose that.

Either way, if you lack interest in it, just don't watch...allow time for your interest to possibly come back. Forcing yourself to sit down and watch something you aren't enjoying at the moment is not the way to go...after all, it's one thing to lose interest...it's another to end up making yourself hate something.

hate to be an asshole here, but when did these boards turn into personal counseling?

Dude, You don't dig Watching Anime anymore GOOD FOR YOU! that means that you've reached a new stage in life, May I suggest a few other tidbits of advice as well,

Stop visiting anime boards,

stop downloading/editing/ or watching amv's, hell delete the ones you have, (burn on CD if you really want, but clear your HD)

DONT sell your DVDs thats pointless unless you really need the money.

and most important.... GO DO SOMETHING ELSE!

if within a few months nostalgia doesn't kick in and make you watch it again then even better, money to spend on another hobby that you DO have interest in in this part of your life. (then maybe you can sell your dvds)

from what i've been reading, it's not a counseling thread. it's more like,
"hey you're losing interest in anime. so what? get over it. if anything you'l find yourself getting back into it, but there's more to life than some fucking japanese cartoons"
of course that's just a brief summary

Who's counseling? He's worried that he's losing interest in anime, and people are explaining to him that that's not a bad thing, and possibly a good thing, and it may just be for the time anyway...I don't see any couseling going on.

You can still love anime without actually watching it.

you can read about anime and you'll know what you need
there are sites for that and susally it's not easy to determine what anime series' you'll like and which wouldn't satisfy you but just look at the genre and the reaction of the anime fans(popularity).

if you got bored of anime generally maybe before you stoped watching it you watched it too much.
and yes i believe there is a "too much".
i don't know about you but it happens to me all the time that i watch an AMV too many times and suddenly i can't watch it anymore.
same with music.
about two years ago i started listening to linkin park.
i would listen to their albums 24/7 until one day, suddenly the music became noise to my ears.
i haven't recovered from this till today and i listen to their music only once in a long long while.
maybe the same thing happened to you.
if you want to come back to watching anime you should search for something new by yourself unless you know exactly what you're looking for(genre, length etc).
if you don't think you'll ever enjoy anime again don't bother.
just leave it.
new hobbies will come and go but maybe, just maybe, you'll feel something is missing.

i for one try to stay away from situations like this one so i don't over do stuff and try to do many different things and not watch, for example, an AMV i liked more than 1-2 times a day so i don't start hating it the next day.

my way is what i see that works for me so as stupid as it may be im just offering my solutions:)

Well he's whining about something thats just a personal issue, about him trying to maintain his uber-fanboy position in life. and sure everyone else is telling him the honest truth that there is more to life than anime. but instead of being like a normal person and letting out a sigh and saying yes you're right. he creates a tighter grip on it as if he were waiting on someone to go NO DON'T LISTEN TO THEM, ANIME IS EVERYTHING AND I AGREE WITH YOU, or at least feel sorry for them. and that just irks me. I think he should just shut up and go whine on something more personal like AIM or MSN, instead of posting this here.

But it's still not counseling. it's this guy creating a mental addiction to something and now going through a type of withdrawl, or fear of such sense.
